Mosrite part: Screw

Postby Desert Surfer » Sun Oct 26, 2008 7:17 am

I just bough a 1967 Mosrite Joe Maphis. It is very clean and sounds great. Everything is original including the case.

But one of the screws on vibrator base is missing (the 2nd from top, on the right) It wont effect the playing, but I would like to make it 100% original or close to it.

If anyone who has this spare part (vintage preferred), please let me know.

Thanks,
Vincent (Desert Surfer)

Vincent, do you just need the screw for the saddle, or do you need the acorn as well??
BTW, that's in excellent condition, nice find! ;)
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Thanks, Dennis. It sounds increadiable too.

I am not sure what is a acorn? I need what ever is missing there. I thought it is just a screw with round head.

It appears from the photo, although there is a glare, that the screw going through the sting post is twisted off. Looks like you will need a screw, acorn nut, and two washers. You should be able to find them at a machine shop supply store, they are called Fillister head screws with acorn nut. Or, check with Ed Elliott.

Thanks, Danny: I probably leave it "as is" until I find the exact vintage parts someday.

If anyone happen to have the exact vintage parts, please PM me. Thanks.

I have 2 washers, screw and a nut I could send you. I bought a roller bridge from a guy on ebay a while back, he had this:

Didnt know what the bridge was for (still have it) and only used the rollers for my Ventures II model (kept my original non-rollers), so have the screws, bolts and nuts as spares, I aint gonna miss one of them!!!

If I remember that auction correctly, it's a Jazzmaster bridge base with Mosrite saddles.

Yeh, I have no idea about the bridge but I wasnt after that, it was the rollers and they are perfect (long since been on my VII :D). The bridge is a stainless type, something I'll hang onto, maybe someone wants it?? Free to a good home??!!

Currently it is storing the screws/washers/nuts and original VII string guides..
