Re: My Strat build
Okay, I finally found the name of the guy that is making the pickups. His name is Bill Lawrence and he is supposed to be quite ingenious when it comes to pickup design, etc.

Tom Anderson is to Strats kinda like Hallmark is to Mosrites.
Anyhow their single (hum reducing) pups sound very much like Production Bill Lawrence SX series so I can only imagine what a custom set designed for your likes and wood will sound like. It sure won't be that SD or DM sound.
I actually have a production set of Lawrence blades (humbuckers) in a
Looking forward to seeing this build.

Re: My Strat build
I always thought G&L was to fender as hallmark was to Mosrite. man, I feel like I'm taking a pop quiz in school, jeez!

Re: My Strat build
Bill Lawrence! Cool! He makes some great pickups. I have a custom MJ Guitar Engineering (Mark Johnson) Mirage with a Bill Lawrence Tele pickup in the bridge position and it sounds great. Bill started out in Germany in the '40's as a jazz guitarist--his stage name was Billy Lorento, and he also did some design work for Framus under that name. In the '70's he was responsible for some of Gibson's more interesting designs of that era, like the L6S and the S-1.
Tom Anderson guitars are more analogous to Paul Reed Smith as far as quality goes--if a PRS is a hot-rodded Gibson, an Anderson is a hot-rodded Fender.

Re: My Strat build
Thank you! I feel like such a putz. I didn't really know who he is and what he had accomplished. Originally I was thinking TV Jones pickups, but my friend knows Mr. Lawrence and hooked me up.
