Re: Wicked Longhorn.
Just a quick question for you , how does that style of truss rod work ? I've seen the ones Ed made from two strips of metal that bend when you tighten the thing up.
This I can understand , I can see how that might actually bend against the action of the strings to keep the neck from moving too much.
From your picture it seems that it is just a single rod . Maybe it is a double rod design but we just can't see the one underneath?
Are there several different types of truss rod design ?
Forgive my lazyness here , I'm sure that I should really surf for truss rod designs on the web , but....
I'm liking your build threads so much , I thought I would ask
I've never removed one from a guitar in my life ! Just tightening the one on my old strat was a voyage into the unknown for me at the time ...
I've read that some Martin accoustics don't even have truss rods at all ...
doesn't that single rod just compress the neck the more you tighten it up ? Does that do just as well as the split-bar design ?

Re: Wicked Longhorn.
Its not a compression rod that gibson usen on the early les pauls, those where sngle rods in a straight channel. I make my channel curved (like in fenders) so when tightening the rod the middle section of the neck is pushed upwards.
