Re: Let's talk boosters.
I used to use a Boss booster - it was called something like a MOSFET Pre-amp or FET Pre-amp - it was a small green stomp box and had a tone knob and I think a bass or mid boost switch. It was a great booster - pretty transparent but still adjustable. It did not have the sterile hi-fi tone that I got with the MXR mini-amp. I used it when I played in a blues band - (the kind of band I imagine Zak would love
) - but it sounded killer. Ever since it got stolen over 10 years ago I haven't used another booster. I'd love to find another one like it.

Well, I bought another Nick Greer pedal which has a little gain to it when pushed through a tube amp. His pedals are way cool, folks! It's called the Tone Smuggler. This pedal is described as a pedal that'll give you more of your amp and it's exactly what it does. Use it as a volumeboost, slightly driven boost or with the gain way up you'll get that buzzy tube sound when you pick the low strings hard. And of course it likes Mosrite pups!

I have a Roger Mayer Voodoo-boost. It is nearly always in the signal chain in my pedal board. Z.Vex Super Hard-On is really interesting, I have the Tremolo Probe pedal (which is based on the SHO), it might be nice to have one of those too for an alternative.

This concludes my report from outer space. Now, back to studio!

Just checked out the Janglebox. How do you use it as a booster? Sounds like an really interesting pedal. I've also looked at the Frantone Sputnik and Sandwich for some alternative 'boost' options. But one has to be very careful with compressors as they can really ruin your tone if over used in my opinion...
Talking about compressors too in the equation, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTWbFjOciE4 (posted it once before here recently). Really cool...I have one.
Good luck on finding your (boost) tone ElTwang!

Paul, I still like the 'ol standby pedal,' the Boss CS-3
. Although the Barber Tone Comp Pedal has the tone control built into the blend control, I still prefer to have the Tone and Attack (Blend) as individual controls to 'give me more control' with the pedal. However, I only use some of these pedals with my Ampeg GU-12 for smaller venues. Otherwise I'll use my Rockman
.

Never tried any other comp./sustain pedal before. Once I decided it was time for me to get some decent sustain from my Strat, I decided to get me a pedal. The reviews in Harmony Central swayed my decision to jump into the deep and go for the Barber. It's quite subtle in use really.
Now my new Hallmark 60 Custum has loads of sustain, even without the Barber pedal!
Anyway, I'm not such a big player and perhaps it's more like a toy for me, I must confess. The Boss CS-3 costs much less than the Barber at any rate...maybe I should give it a try

About the only pedal I use anymore is a Maxon OD9, unless I'm playing through my Gibson LPJ GA-5. Then I use a Verbzilla Reverb pedal. The Maxon works great with the 60 Custom's Pickups, too.

Yeah, although they may not have the jangle of the original Mosrite pups, I've come to appreciate the versatility of the Hallmark pups.
