I found one of these in a local shop for a really cheap price but want to know if it's actually worth something. It's made in Kalamazoo, MI, has a solid spruce top solid mahogany back and sides, rosewood bridge everything appears to be original and in decent shape. Has the typical gibson style headstock with serial number stamped in the back. The rosette around the sound hole is flaking of a little. Should I jump on it?

Well the thing sold on ebay, it sold for $67.00 so my profit is $57.00. Now I might be able to buy tolex covering.

cool, this is just like the classical a friend of mine had when we were in high school down to the zero fret that doesn't do anything.

I thought the zero fret was for lowering the string height negating the string guide/nut height. The main reason Mosrites have such great action.

I think that is correct. The zero fret negates having a nut which requires adjustment for string height and utilizes a string guide instead. I think the other benefit is that all strings are contacting the same material in open chords which is believed to enhance the tone. A side benefit from a production standpoint is that you do not have to invest labor in adjusting a nut when you use a string guide.

Personally I like zero frets and I think they enhance action all the way down the neck. It is probably a personal choice. In every forum I frequent I see a debate on this subject. Obviously Semie liked them.
