My wife sent me a text message while I was at work and told me she got me a piece of crap guitar. She volunteers at the community food pantry/thrift store and they got this in and threw it away. She saw the headstock sticking outta the back of the dumpster so she snatched it up for me. Make a long story short I come home to check it out and it's pretty decent, it has a Mighty Mite strat neck which feels awesome and a solid wood strat style body which might be alder or basswood as it's pretty light I'll find out once I strip it. It was a filthy mess when I first looked got it but I rectified that and took it all apart and cleaned the crud out of it

Doing more research, I discovered the body is that of a USA Peavey Predator. It has an alder body with a maple vaneer on both sides. I'll know when I go to do the hardtail conversion

I ran into my first snag with this. The neck pocket is 3/16" too deep so I need to fur it up to make it 5/8" deep right now it's 13/16" deep. But the MIM pick guard I have fits the peavey body perfectly. I got a feeling I'm going to be doing quite a bit of modification to this body.

I once found a Yamaha acoustic twelve-string in a garbage can. All it needed was some set-up and new strings. I did the work cleaned it up and played it for several years before selling it...couldn't help getting images of some scorned young lady "cleaning out" her digs, but hey, free is FREE!

Re: Got another project (trash find)
as a practical joke my ex-girlfriend one time took my mosrite VII and put in a trash can. it was a brand new clean bag so no harm done, she did it just to mess with me, but then again there's a reason why she's my ex-girlfriend...
Cheers,

Re: Got another project (trash find)
I stripped the body tonight and it turned out to be a 2-piece poplar body and it has a hairline crack about 6" long but it doesn't go all the way through the body. If the rain holds off tomorrow I'm going to sand the body and see what everything looks like.
