Sperzel locking tuners - HELP!

Postby olrocknroller » Sun May 06, 2012 8:55 pm

I thought I'd try a set of these tuners, installed them, and started stringing up the guitar...all went well until I got to the G...it snipped it off as clean as if I'd used my side-cutters! :o Hmm, I thought, wonder what's with that, as I continued on to the B...snip! I checked the pins, and they're round-end-up, so quickly figured I was stymied.

Anybody had/solved this problem?

I have one set of those, and either I did not get it, ( I went on line to get instructions from more than one source ) or they just aren't for me. I went back to conventional tuners.

I'm not sure that I understand the question/problem. I've got Sperzels on all of my Mo's except for my '63 and '65.
Those Sperzels are excellent. I installed my first set on my '88 back in '90, and then installed them on the rest...?
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Turns out they are fine... It was the strings that caused the problem, being a brand apparently known to be very brittle. I switched to my every-day working brand of strings, and all went well. Pics of the guitar are posted under my Jazzmaster build post. Thanks for the replies!
