Non-standard bridge for my Kawai?

Postby Ready Freddie » Fri Feb 14, 2014 10:52 am

Hello everyone!

Need some help with my Kawai CB2V which I've got few days ago - it's set up
pretty strange as bridge looks off the place, so I had to shift strings a bit
using slotted saddles to keep high E falling off the neck. At the
moment it looks as below, it's more or less alright (pickups look
off the place as well, but it's not a big deal). In fact I don't like Jazzmasterish
bridge and would rather have Mustang/Mosrite one or TOM with "solid" saddles,
but for this setup space between strings must be like 0.8mm or around 2'' E to E,
which is not common at all, I wonder if anybody knows any bridge model which has
similar measurements? Thanks in advance!

What is the distance between the mounting posts center to center? One of our Hallmark bridges may fit.

Thanks for reply, Bob. Distance looks like 71-72mm, but the weird thing is that for proper distance from high E to the center of near post
is 18mm, while for low E it's 16, maybe I will have to readjust studs positions a bit.
E-E distance is 48mm and it looks like the maximum.
I've checked other pictures of this model and looks like it must have some sort
of mechanics for muting,

which mine obviously lost and now only have strange looking mount on one side,
so probably the bridge is original, but it's absolutely not right for this neck unless you use saddle
slots at their extreme

Hello,

Have you been able to “fix” the bridge? Have the same guitar and looking for the mute part of the bridge that is missing.
