RIP Merle Haggard

Postby BRRanger » Wed Apr 06, 2016 11:36 am

One of my all time favorites Merle Haggard passed away in Redding, Ca. Was fortunate enough to have seen Merle (born in Oildale, CA!) in concert in 1973 with a newcomer Emmy Lou Harris. We will miss you Merle!

Scott, I didn't see you post here. The loss of Merle Haggard is a big hit to country music. I have been a huge fan of Merle for over 50 years. A number of years ago I played in a band that did a dinner show that was a tribute to Merle Haggard and I sat down and learned to play all the songs we did just as he recorded them. I never did that before or after for anyone else. He was one of the BEST.

Amen Jim, I'll change your flat tire Merle! Only got our band to play "Today I Started Loving You Again"...because Fogerty did it on his "Blue Ridge Rangers" lp. Last song, side 2.

Adios to a great musical outlaw and one of a breed which may never come again.

Bon Voyage, Mr. Haggard.
