Just thought this could get good after a short while. We have ALL had that one run in with a guitar that you remember forever! Even if you have one thats not scary, make it sounds scary.
Here goes mine.
It was a Tuesday like any other Tuesday. Stayed home from school to spend some time with Jackie (my Eastwood JR Elite). 7PM rolled around pretty darn fast, time to go to lessons and learn me some good ol' rock and roll. When we bulled up to the mall I notice that a kid had dropped his guitar, he picked it up and went on his way as did I. We got to the store and the owner, Phil, had a small box sitting in his workshop. He asked me in a pretty happy voice "Hey Steve, great news, your area 61 came today, want me to put it in for ya?" I said yes with a huge grin on my face, I'd been waiting for this pickup for about 5 weeks. Phil was working on a 1975 Les Paul, a restringing job, pretty boring. He put the grand daddy down and said "Lemme see that Eastwood" so I did, took her out of the gig bag and he went on about how he wished he had one, telling a story about a 64 Mosrite MKII he had, his first guitar he had said too. Great story.
Phil went and took off the strings and pick guard, exposing her wires and what not. He clipped wire after wire until the stock bridge pick up was out and on the table. My teacher Dave, came down and said with the biggest smile "Lets go do some Ventures" off we went to do Pipeline. 30 mins never went to fast in my life it seemed. Great lesson too. We walked down to the shop, talking about guitar stories and Ramones shows Dave had gone to, new years eve, 1977, The Rainbow.
As I walked by I saw about 5 or 8 people standing by the "Great Wall of Guitara" as I called it, looking at one guitar. I walked over to Phil and asked "Where my axe tis be Sir Phil of Whales". He looked at said "over there". PEOPLE! The people were all on my guitar! Touching it, holding it, strumming it. It looked like a mob of zombies, fighting over the last human, but worse, people over my guitar! Some talking about how he would offer Phil up to $900 for her! I could not let this happen. I bumped into the crowd and took my loved Jackie off the wall hanger and into my arms once more. One man had the guts to say "son, this is my guitar, I bought it just now, give it back". I looked at him with the most evil of looks and walked out of the store, laid my guitar down on one of the many couches the mall had, looked him in the eye and said "Never, never will this guitar be yours"
One day without my loved Eastwood. If I didn't get there when I did, she could of been... tuned to....... DROP D *BUM BUM BUUUUUUUUUM*
