I arrive on the 26august and leave in 10ish October so I have lots of time to check out stuff.

Manny's Music and Rudy's Music, both in Soho (somewhere around 48th St) Manny's has unbelievable history, clear back to when a young Jimi Hendrix used to go in there & buy stuff.

Sorry, I didn't know that. Haven't been there in yrs. I guess you just like to think some things never change.
Sam Ash & GC have become like a blight. I would have thought there would have been some sort of public outcry over the demise of Manny's. They should have made a museum or something out of it.

Oh well, I know Rudy's is still there -they advertise every month in Vintage Guitar.

Also, you can walk through the streets of Soho, Grenich Village & all those places, and remember the atmosphere that must've prevailed there in the mid 60's, when guys like Dylan and all the other folkies played there. I'm not sure what those places look like now -it's probably not safe to go there. I'm going to NYC myself in October. I'll investigate and report back on what's still the same.

I'm sure some of you guys live there, but maybe you're like me -I lived 13 yrs. in San Diego and never went to the zoo or Sea World, 'til I went back on a vacation.
