Hay Veenture, how,s it going good I hope, haven't herd from you in a while, of course I haven't been on the forum as much as I was in the past. Good to hear from you and have a great holoday season, and a most excelent Chrisrmas.

Al, if you are still in the Tampa area, you'll need to go to Mel's Hot Dogs on Busch Boulevard.
Owner and founder Mel Lohn is a musician and also a nut, but isn't that pretty much the same thing?!?!?

Hey, Al--
I knew Mel casually back when I was an editor on the Temple Terrace Beacon newspaper, because I ate there a lot, but that was 26 years ago, and I haven't been there since! So he surely wouldn't remember me.
But at that time, Mel's was a great place to go; little more than a shack on the side of the road but great food.
Also good was Ted Peter's Smokehouse in St. Pete, which was also little more than a shack back then. They offered cheeseburgers or smoked mullet, and that was about it, but the food was just wonderful. They put a thick slice of Velveeta cheese on the burgers and it was sublime.
Other good places (more upscale): The Branch Ranch and Steve's Rustic Lodge in the Lake Thonotasassa area, and the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.
