Neck Width on the ‘63

Postby Athomdrip » Mon Aug 03, 2020 10:52 am

Hi friends, excuse my ignorance and forgive me if these questions were answered previously...

Using the specs shared here on the 66 mark I

1)The forum measurements mention the neck width at the nut is 1.673” which I think is around 1 5/8”. Is that about right, and if so, what is the width at the heel? Is it roughly 2” around the 22nd fret or is it the standard 2 3/16-2.25”?

2) I’ve never played a real Mosrite but I read the necks were super thin and narrow. I used the specs below from the forum twice before and the neck felt way too thick (but my width did not taper to 1.673” and was more akin to the strat which might explain the chunky feeling in the cheeks/sides.) The specs say and reaffirm that this does not include the 1/4” fretboard. Would this because of not staying true to the neck width?

2. Neck width at zero fret 1.673"
9. Neck thickness at 1st fret (side view) .795"
10. Neck thickness at12th fret (side view) .840”

3)Aside from the set neck, are the specs (excluding the 7/8” heel step down for the pickup) different in comparing the 66 to the 63? I guess is the heel still pitched from 1 3/8 to 1 5/16?
