Makin' some noise on my Mosrite

Here's a video I resisted posting because I hate seeing myself on video. It's our band Tiki Taboo playing at the Honolulu Surf Film Festival this past summer. That's my Firstman Avenger. Hey, I never said I was photogenic.

Two thumbs up, Byron! Great looking Avenger too. What amp are you using?

Thanks Danny! That is a Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb w/ 2 Jensen reissue speakers.

It sounds nice. Is it stock or modified to Vibroverb specs? Also I don't see a reverb tank except the rhythm guitar, are you using only your onboard reverb or added reverb through you pedal board.
BTW, while I have your attention, any chance of sharing a gig if my band visited Hawaii this summer? Just thinking out loud here.

Danny, the amp is stock, although I don't really know what the previous owner may have done to it. The reverb on the amp is really weak though, so I am using a Hardwire (Digitech) RV-7 digital reverb pedal. It does the drippy surf thiing pretty well. I chose it over the Boss FRV pedal.
Hey, if the Tsunami Surfers come over during the summer I would definitely want to do a gig together

. Yeah!

Sounds like my stock Custom Vibrolux Reverb RI too!
I'm considering trading it in for a super wet sounding '65 DELUXE REVERB RI, even though it is less powerful (22 Watts).

Paul, the DR is a fine amp however it's more of a blues amp and breaks up too early for surf music. There are some simple mods that can be done to the CVR (by a technician) that can bring that amp up to Vibroverb specs.

Thanks for your tip, Danny. I need to find me a good (qualified) technician close to home for the mod. I was considering the DR in anticipation of a possible break up of our band and the DR would be perfect for me in 'home' use

Byron, two thumbs up from me too, Dude

Cool video Byron - great vibe! There's definitely more reverb to be had out of the CVR's with some internal modification.
Paul, I hope your band sticks together, but keep the CVR either way - when (note I say when, not if) you play out, you'll be glad to have the extra power, and for around the home volumes, there's not much difference in tone - both amps would be running pretty clean. If you want grind at home, something like a Champ or AC4 is what you'd be after. But keep the band together - tell them I say so!
