Stereo 350 Bass in Cream/Lemon Cream

Postby 101Volts » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:38 am

Nice looking bass. I haven't seen a 350, Bass or Guitar, In this color before. Is the color original? Has the color changed from white over the years?

Yeah, I was going to post this one myself. That thing looks all kinds of awesome. A friend of mine has got his eye on it.

Depending on how high it goes we may go splitsies on it until he can pay for the rest. Hmm, this could make a bass player outta me!

and this is exactly what i've been looking for
(a 350 bass to match my 350 guitar!)...
i don't have a lot of dough,
but do hope to put a bid in at some point...

The knobs don't look original, and I've never seen that finish on a Mosrite 350. That doesn't mean anything, neccessarily--I've seen very few of those things. I had a brown sunburst 350 guitar, and a friend of mine had a natural mahogany 350 bass--we both bought them new in '74. I've seen pics of them in cherry red and black as well, but I've never seen or heard of a white one until now. Might be a refin, might not--it's hard to tell.

The knobs are original. Semie ran out of metal knobs and got those from Radio Shack. As I mentioned before, Semie went to Ed Sanner and got the rest of the Mosrite Electronics knobs and used those on a lot of the 70's guitars which is why they are tall with no T nd V on them. Before and possibly after he got them from Ed, he used generic Radio Shack knobs. You can see these same knobs on quite a few Mosrites from this period.

If it is a refin it was done a quite a while ago. If you look close you can see a lot of cracks in the finish from age. Looks like it started out white and it yellowed from age. Also the pickguard has a few screws missing and the ones that are there look like the wrong ones. They look like straight slotted screws.I think they should be phillips head.

UH-OHS!!! We might have to flip a coin here so we don't drive each other's bids up!
