My notes:

I was familiar with Mark V models with 2-Piece Necks, and also those without the Neck Plate, but I had not seen this finish before, if it's even original. There's a chance it's original; the late models' paint (1968 - Feb 13 1969) seems to have fared better than those from 1965 - 1967. This paint looks like what you'd see on a Danelectro (or their Silvertone-branded models.) However, this individual guitar appears to have been re-fretted, so it may not still have its original number.

- Austin
1966 Ventures II German Carve, B670 - Yellow, Originally Sunburst.
1970s "Not a Blues Bender" Body 1 with a Long Neck Rout - Black.
1970s "Not a Blues Bender" Body 2.
1976 Brass Rail Deluxe #10 - Black.

They re-listed it with better photos, shortly after posting that previous ad. Now I can see that the tuners are probably not original (they're Grovers.)

If you look at this first photo, you can see some curious primer around the lower side of the neck pocket. I'm not that knowledgeable of the primer used on these, but is that a strange color for primer of a late MK V?

So far, this guitar has:

4 Neck Bolts (without a plate)
Grover Tuners (not original)
2-Piece Neck
Sparkle Red Paint (the only time I've seen this.)

This guitar's probably from the last 130 made, but since it seems to have been re-fretted, it's anyone's guess what the number is, except that it's probably roughly in the B1565 - B1685 range.

Come to think of it, there's some possibility that it's a mostly parts-matching Parts-rite, and (if the finish is original) someone thought "I'd like it painted like a Danelectro."
