Gretsch 6161/I finally have a fan!

I have an early Gretsch 6161 that was modified after the oval speakers blew. It's been fitted with a Celestion G20 Vintage 10", a new baffle was made, and a 4" speaker was also added. Wires were swapped to switch the 6973s to 6CZ5 tubes. I had some issues early on with it screeching. Sometimes I could play for hours with no problems, other times it was just nuts and I would just set it aside for a day or two. I went ahead and put some 6973s in and it sounded sooo much better, no screeching, but it was running super hot. I brought it to my amp guy and he changed a resistor but still after about a half an hour it was getting extremely hot by the switch. I'm still not sure what the wire swapping was about since nothing had to be done when I switched tubes. While my guy had it someone came in gawking and went on to say, "Yeah, I've had one of those forever, LOVE IT, but it gets hotter than heck!" So, long story short he put this little fan in there, virtually silent, works like a charm, and should help extend the life of the tubes.

Three cups of coffee and it still took me a second. Had you not said that was lame I probably would have missed it. Looks like this day is not going to be a breeze.

I had a feeling the answer was just blowin' in the wind. Oh man, this is not going anywhere good!
