Hey,

thanks to all for advice. I have played the custom in rehearsal yesterday and after that at home till 2 o'clock in the night ;). I had no 10's at home, so I went with 11's, which I play on my Duesenberg in a rock band. It feels good with them, but I think, that it doesn't necessarly need 11's. Maybe I will try 10's next time like Mel wrote. I still have to get used to it more, but I like it a lot already.

I currently think bout the Poti-change to brighten up the sound, first I will try with PUP hight. I guess my Jazzmaster will have to share me with the Hallmark ;) ...

I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

OK. I did it! On the advice of MosriteForever, I jumped. I sold the J. Mascis (and a bunch of other things) and bought a brand new Fire Sparkle Burst Custom 60. I heard that there isn't any more sparkles planned for the Custom 60 so I hurried and sold what I could.

The guitar came in yesterday. Let me tell you, the pictures I've seen do not do this guitar justice! The color just jumps out at you. Plus the sparkles! The workmanship is exceptional. Very solid.

I have a friend who has a few original Mosrites and was able to play it next to them. I agree with other posters that the originals were a bit clearer but it was the closest I've heard a clone sound to a real Mosrite.

I really like this guitar! The wider neck takes a bit to getting used to (the Japanese Ramones Mosrite I have has a really small neck - which I like alot) but it's starting to work for me.

We have a show on the 27th of December with my side band and I'll try and get some pics then.

BTW,
I'm working on getting a Sweptwing Bass to play with The Cocktail Preachers. Too bad no Custom 60 basses. I'd be ALL over that!

I tried some of the new Fillmore Ranger at Ed Roman in Vegas a few months ago. They are pretty reasonably prices ($1500 at Roman's but cheaper if you buy directly from Japanese on line store, I saw as low as $899 one time, plus shipping, it is probably at $1100 range) Surprisingly, they are made in Japan, not Korea.

I also have a Wilson Bros VM65 which was made in Korea. It does the job but is not in the same class as Japanese Mosrites.[/quote]

I supposedly downloaded the language pack and restarted my computer but everything I want to read on the Mosrite site is still in Japanese!
If it hasn't been done before, there's a reason why.

Texasbob, try this link. http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... n%26sa%3DG

All I did was cut and paste the link you posted in the Google search engine and it offers an automatic translation. I always use Google for that very reason.

Alright - you guys are giving me a severe case of Hallmark G.A.S.! Those red-silver-blue Hallmarks are looking really tempting to me. Ever since I got my first Mosrite MIJ, I don't want anything else except another Mosrite (or close to it). I think I see a Hallmark Custom in my future.

I was going for one of those r/s/b 60 Customs, until Bob inferred that a 59 Custom would be available. Since I have a 60 Custom, I've decided to hold off - but those sure are tempting ...
