Howdy...forum newbie Vaughn here!

After many years of trying to find a P90 guitar I liked, I stumbled upon the Hallmark 60 website and this website and, after digesting all the related info, I thought it was time to kick some P90 tires again to see where that takes me. So, I ordered and just received my Hallmark 60...so I thought I'd share a quick photo with you all:



Very cool guitfiddle...I think I like it better than any other P90 guitar I've played in 40 years in the game (yeah, I'm an old fart!). The feel is quite different than the Strats I typically play and I'm still tweaking things to my preference....but this thing is just outright freakin' COOL . Some may think the my color selection is cheezy but, what can I say, me just thinks it's...COOL .

What others think is of minor importance Vaughn...it IS a very kewl guitar and you like it, that's what matters!

The great thing about this guitar is, it has it's own tone. I can get sounds out of this guitar that I can't get from my LP, Strat, Tele.. or even my SG Classic (P-90's). Also what I've noticed, is how well balanced the sound from each string is through the 60's pickups. It's just a real pleasure to play.

Yup, I've noticed that with the Hallmark 60 Custom....it's kinda like a Rickenbacker in that nothing else I've played quite sounds like them. However, lowering the pickups (especially the neck one) seems to bring out a clearer tone and I'm now able to also do some convincing SRV licks too. I'm also considering a 500k volume pot but I think I'll wait a while to see how things settle in for now. I tend to not like hot pickups but, so far, these sound decent to me...especially the neck one as it has a nice woody tonality since I've lowered it. So far, my only beef is I wish the frets were slightly larger (but they aren't unbearable)...I just think that the guitar would appeal more to the masses with slightly larger frets. But, this is a Mosrite based guitar so maybe Hallmark just doesn't want to get too far off the beaten path.

That's interesting, I raised the bridge p/u a half turn. I'll have to try lowering the neck p/u and see what it sounds like.

I have a fire sparkle red 60 custom and it is indeed a great guitar. The frets are fine for me, almost the same as my 6122-58 Gretsch. The Hallmark 60 Custom plays well and sounds great and also in this market it isn't all that bad on price. ( I just hope Bob Shade doesn't see this LOL)
Depending on where you are in Pa. you may not be that far from me.

Jim, I was thinking the very same thing for quite a while now about Bob reading all this praise going on about his Hallmark But he deserves it. Naw, ...if he can manage to keep up the good work and fine quality, they'll just keep on selling by word of mouth. Three cheers for Bob Shade, assistant Johnny and the rest of the guys (and gals if you're there, dears...?) of Hallmark

Yup, I'm just used to the bigger frets on my Strats...I'm sure I'll adjust to the 60 just fine once I get around to putting some heavier strings on it. And you're right....(whispering) excellent bang for the buck!

I'm not too far from Pittsburgh...probably too far away to compare Hallmark notes.

Tone & cool...what more could you want out of a guitar . Now I've got to start saving for a backup before Bob kicks up the price! I'd like to see maybe a sparkle gold/blue burst or a sparkle gold/purple burst! Too cheezy?
