Nice to hear Shawn!!

Actually, I like the models with artists names. When I was younger and was collecting various guitars I always looked for a signature model etc. because I figured they would be "top of the line" or more unique in some way.

Playing them never bothered me, I mean, look how many bands played a Ventures model or a Les Paul etc.

Just my take on it.

Re: Bob's take on signature guitars...still have my '66 Gretsch "Monkees Rock n' Roll Model" I bought used in '73...after going to several "solo" concerts, had all 4 Monkees signatures on it.

Funny story regarding signature guitars. In 1982 I was living in Las Vegas and playing with a country band called Vernon Carr and the Country Gentlemen. We were the first band to play the Tonopah Station Casino in Tonopah, NV--it wasn't quite the middle of nowhere, but you could see it from there! Anyway, we had to go through the kitchen and up some stairs to get on the stage, and one night as I was unpacking my guitar (a Gibson Les Paul) in the kitchen, one of the busboys came up and said, "Wow, a Jimmy Page guitar!" then he saw the name in the middle of the headstock, and said, "Les Paul--is that you?" "In my dreams!" I said, and I was almost late for our first show because of trying to explain to this kid who Les Paul was!

I bet most kids nowadays think a Les Paul was just a name for a guitar model, not an artist. If they only knew. How many guys buy a Les Paul because Les used it? Cool vid!

Sat in with some guys this weekend. Had a couple of guitarists come up to check out my Deke.
Both of them asked "Who's Deke Dickerson" I immediately had to whip out my iPhone and show them
some footage of Deke tearing it up. They at least left the show that night knowing who he was. :D
