Yall jinxed me! Last night I popped the ball end off of my B-string!

I've been meaning to switch to 9s anyway, so that's what I did. I tinned the twisty ball end for extra support and the 9s are on. I like them better so far. I found the 10s were a little stiff for bending on the 60C for some reason. The 9s on this guitar feel more like my SGs and LPs.

Soldered the strings, worked perfect. Thanks all!

Same issue with my Custom 60 - Ernie Ball Slinky 9 gage would occasionally unravel at the ball. Just before a string change, try one small drop of Crazy glue gel on the wound part that unravels. You will no longer have this problem.

Good idea! Stevie Ray used to have his tech solder the ball ends. I think super glue would be the next generation fix. GHS reinforced ball end strings will not break if you don't want to glue or solder the ends.

I think all strings should come pre-stretched with reinforced ends. That would be perfect.

That's happened a couple times with my original Ventures '65 Mosrite. And, only after I loosened the string a couple times to fix something on the bridge. Hasn't happened since.

No comment on the string issue, but your guitar is a real beauty!

I have this same problem from time to time. So I always chalks dit up to a bad string. Ie recently just found and purchase Ernie Ball reinforced slinky’s that I’m going to put on next string change.
