Returning member - Owner of many Mosrites, "clones", others

Hi all: I'm a retired OF and I just won a Dillion DMB7504 4-string electric bass on a major auction site so I joined up to see if anyone else had a similar model and if there were discussions revolving around it. I'm still learning to play the bass and started back in 1972 when I bought a Mosrite The Ventures model with one pup for $200. It had been painted a shocking pink but I quicly stripped it and spray painted it red. I never played with anyone but 6 years later, in 1978, I played it at a party thrown for my 40th birthday at a friend's apartment and about 40 friends showed up. I dragged my big 'n' heavy Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp and played along to the Beatles "Birthday" and the Bee Gees "Night Fever". I was also into reggae and oldies. I learned a ton of songs but only played them at home.

I've owned 2 Mosrites, the other one being a Joe Maphis bass; an Aria Black 'n' Gold; a J.K. Lado; 2 Eastwood Hi-Flyers; a Univox Hi-Flier; and others I can't remember the names of. Once I memorized the bass to a song I was satisfied, moved on and never honed my playing. A recent long gap between instruments was responsible for my fingers to tighten up.

In about a week I'll have the Dillion in my hands and I'll have to start all over. If I can get past the first week or two, I might continue or I might just look at it! When I receive it I'll post photos of it on the Modern Clones forum.
