Re: New here! Greetings from Detroit. Owner of US Combo, Japanese Ventures
Welcome aboard. Greetings from Los Angeles, CA. I can't help you with the quest for info but I have a Japanese Mosrite Avenger. Not a Ventures model but I did put a decal of The Ventures Model on the headstock so now it's a certifiable Ventures guitar!
I love it. It's an extension of me. Maybe you can say it's another limb of mine. I wish I had it years ago. The tone is amazing. Sounds like The Ventures Live in Japan 1965. Not only that but the feel is great. The neck is awesome. I would say the frets are great because they are but the previous owner put them on so I don't know how stock frets on a circa 1970 Mosrite Avenger would be.

By the way, that wood grain on yours is amazing. Most those guitars were made of basswood I believe but I wonder if that's an Ash wood pattern?

Hi Nik,
Nice looking guitars you have there!
On the Ventures model, would there happen to be a serial # stamped between the two highest frets?

Hmmm... wish I had more info to identify it, I'd guess maybe a Fillmore or Kurokumo... maybe someone who is more familiar with this one will chime in?
BTW that Combo is a beautiful instrument too!

there arent many features that lead me to believe its anything other than a kurokumo. there was one thing that made me think it may be an avenger but the headstock and tuners negate that. im happy thinking its a kurokumo haha. thanks everyone for the kind welcome. i will be checking back in.
