Mine is serial number 0251. Artie's in the glass case down at Front Porch is in the 170s or 180s if I remember correctly. It is commonly estimated that there were about 150 sidejacks made, but I put very little faith in Mosrite serial numbers; I've seen standard production '64s with lower serial numbers than my pre-production '63/'64 transition model, so who knows?

Yes, one owner. There is ZERO fretwear, almost no checking, no fading or yellowing, and just a handful of dings. When I first opened the case I found myself questioning if the thing was even real or if the hardware had been replaced, that's how clean it is.

There is another forum member who owns one of these transitional '63s, but I couldn't for the life of me find the thread in the archives. Anyone?

No belly carve, but the bass side of the lower bout is tapered thin. That's the way a real handmade Mosrite should be, and is unfortunately a rather great detail that was dropped on the bulk of production instruments. And yes, the sides of the headstock are bursted as well.

Not such a shocking revelation. In general, the whole neck gets the sunburst treatment. Maybe you're just used to seeing those blacked out headstocks.
