I always thought they were to switch from single to dual coil, on my Bluesbender. I've seen them on a few different models (although I don't remember on a Celebrity), but they've always been the ones equipped with those 2 rows of magnets on the pickups, which I figured was one row for each coil, and that those switches activated them independently -thus gettting the "8 different tones" mentioned in that ad. But I did have a luthier dude in San Diego tell me they were in phase/ out of phase switches.
Since I didn't understand what that meant, I chose to believe they were coil switches. Truth be told, though -on my Bluesender -they have very little effect ............

Where is the second strap button hidden? ...and for that matter, I cannot detect any strap button either on either of the horns of the Celebrity pic that Sarah posted...strange...Sarah, you as Celeb guru will of course know...is the second strap button possibly fixed on the underside of the neck joint, out of sight?
Paul, good observation on the strap being hooked up to the p'up selector switch

The 2nd strap button was actually behind the neck, mounted to the body as in the picture below.....

Yep, the one that I have photos of has it behind the neck. My Celebrity-III is also behind the neck. Although I see the strap pins a lot of the time on the bass side horn. I have not seen a rhyme or reason why the assemblers put them where they did. It almost seems to me that it was a case of personal preference. I have many examples of guitars that are the same model and years and yet the strap pins will be in different locations.

Re: What are these buttons?
Veenture, you are too kind. I am NO guru when it comes to these guitars. I am learning something new every day it seems!
Just in case other Sarah's join this forum, I'd like to make it clear that I would be, Sarah-I and the others would follow, such as Sarah-II and Sarah-III. Being Sarah-I means that I get the best features including the phase-in/phase-out switch that I affectionately refer to as "my blonde moments".
This ad that was just posted is an awesome ad and it makes me wonder how many forum members have other collateral material (ads, flyers, catalogs, case candy, etc) that could be scanned and emailed to me. I would love to have these images on my website.

Re: What are these buttons?
Sarah, these are switchcraft on/on switches. I've looked everywhere for these, and I believe these are no longer made. these are pretty rare, I've only seen one other set with yellow buttons. typically these were used more often as a bypass switch like on the VII's but these can be use for several wiring options.
Cheers,
