Adam, Thanks for the Deluxe post!!! I know you have told me before, but now that I am home with my Deluxe close by, I have copied and pasted your post to a word doc, I finally get it!!!
Ed, You have at last put to rest a question that has been bugging me for the better part of a decade! I wondered what that guitar was. It looked like my SM, but the pickguard was wrong and it had a Moseley tailpiece! I know, if Semie had a custom order, or needed some capital, he would build a guitar with what he had. I only knew of the Brass Rail and the SM model from the "New Mosrite" period, so this one has befuddled me for some time. I got my Deluxe from a guy in Louisiana, and he said he had 2 more Brass Rails so he did not need a 3rd for backup. That means there may be 2 more "New Mosrites" to be had out there. Lets dig them up!!

New Mosrite Forever!!!

All,

We just pulled out our old Mosrite from under the bed and are trying to figure out what we have, how many were made, and what the value is. We *think* we have a New Mosrite of California model SM with a serial number **8** on the last fret. It sounds like a few of you might have the same - what are the numbers on yours?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Also, any info on how to post a picture would be good.

I have posted here before about my SM model but didn't get any responses. :? Glad to see another one of these rare finds! The serial number on mine is '14LOU'. I've always wondered who Lou could be. 14LOU = One for Lou? I've taken my tailpiece off before and it too has "Mosrite 1977" inscribed. Pics are here:

Just take your image-url and wrap it into the img-tags – like this:

Code: Select all

Here's the result:

Ok, I'm having a heck of a time! Here is a link to my pictures: https://plus.google.com/109186376368271768874/posts/J5w9DjChhrZ with any luck it will work. If all else fails, cut and paste. :)

For giggles, I'll try the image thing too, but I keep getting an error message when I try to submit my post.

As you can see, I have an **8** on my fret board, so I'm not sure what that means either. Anyone know how many of these were made, or what the value is? We're thinking of selling, but would like to learn a little more first.

Thanks!
Melissa
