A EARLY JOE MAPHIS MODEL PRE VENTURE MOSRITE 1959-60-61-?

Hi all. I am not going to say to much about this Mosrite Guitar. It is a unfinished
original that has laid around for decades. From California to Nashville, it was a
joy just to bring it to this point. The only thing left really is to fit a original
material Pick Guard on it. The orginal Semie sprayed finish is near perfect only
AGE and Moving around the country over near 50 years shows. The Original Early Vibramute is in excellent condition. I also include a close up of this Head Stock. I did string it up one time (really I could not stand the wait to pick one on it) to check Neck Angle, Truss Rod Adjust, Action and Pick Up Quality (Sound & Tone). It should not be to much longer before some proud owner will have a piece of History, and proudly so. There just ain't many of these around. Oh I did not forget, I know better than to give
a date that Semie finished the Body?. I just don't know. 59-60-61-62-? Take your pick.
Also that is a Pattern only pick guard pictured. I know it's hard to see, but head stock
reads Joe Maphis Model by Mosrite of California. (Joe Maphis Model by) in Script as is
(of California) in Script. Photo taken in Andy's shop. 12/22/2009. It may well be the last
Vintage Mosrite put together under direction of one of the Founders. It was a thrill to be part of that.

Luv again and have a safe Christmas.

Elaine

Thanks for showing us this one Elaine. This model is so special! The finish (on the body) is indeed truly amazingly beautiful; it immediately struck me that the Sunburst finish of my Hallmark 60 Custom is almost exactly the same as this one
Notice there's no yellow in Semie's sunburst recipe (yet)!

I love that this one has the fret version string guide behind the zero fret. I would have claimed that it has to be very early, but as Elaine has educated us from her posts, there's no definite rule in the history line for Mosrites. Thank you again, great pics. :D

it's hard to tell from the photo, but is the german carve on that beaut more subtle than on the ventures models?
