Mosrite finishes: bursts
Maybe some of you Mosrite gurus can answer this: There is the 3 tone burst. A classic. But I have seen pictures of a two tone burst that runs from a pale orage to a reddish hue for the dark portion of the burst. Best example I can think of is the link Dennis provided of Brian Lonbeck playing his double neck. Is there a name for this "Burst"? How many different bursts came out of Mosrite over the years?

Strat-o,
I've gone back and reviewed as many reference photo's as I can find depicting the double necks, and everything seems to be the standard sunburst finish. It doesn't appear to be anything special or different.
As a hobby guitar builder and finisher, it has been my experience that different effects and hues can be achieved by spraying thin to heavier coats of toner when developing the sunburst effect. Also the type of wood being sprayed has a huge effect.

Thanks, Danny.
I guess what I'm seeing would be effects of aging on the finish- nitro yellowing and red dyes fading- all to different degrees.

I don't know what it is about this burst, but I love it.
