Recognize this Mosrite. Celebrity owned?

Postby TerryTNM » Sat May 21, 2011 3:26 pm

Hello,
A friend sent me this photo of what he says is a 66 Mosrite highly altered that possibly was once owned by a celebrity.
Anyone have any idea who that may have been?

Not Mr. Waldorf...it only has two pickups  [j/k Mel]
Looks like the Mosrite 'heart' has been taken out with those two replacement pups (humbuckers most likely) :(
Sorry Terry, I couldn't tell you :?

Even with three humbuckers you couldn't pin it on me!

Whoever owned it at least didn't do too much damage.

Artie you're 'rite. But I'm guessing the red was added at a later time, possibly
when the 'Gibson wannabe' conversion took place....again, just a guess....???

Hey Terry, quite a find here! It is not a 66, it is most likely a 65 as it has a Vibramute and the neck adjustment is at the heel. I don't know if the finish is original, it is hard to tell by the photo. I am certain the custom red stripe is not. Also, it is hard to tell if the Vibramute was ever plated in gold or simply non plated brass. All of these things would be easy to figure out if we could see it in person.

Interesting, thanks Terry!

didn't Eddie Dean have a gold mosrite from around this era as well? Could be his, as I don't think that one has turned up anywhere yet...
