I'm quite excited to have recently aquired a '66 Ventures Model Mosrite Bass that has the best of the '65 and '66 features (IMHO). It has the two pickups of the '66 model but the Fender knobs and truss rod access at the base of the neck of the '65. It plays beautifully but is certainly in relic condition. -Marty

I love (and highly prefer) the features on your transitional model making it the IDEAL Mosrite bass (for me) to have. I envy you but I do have my Aria The Ventures model VMB-75 bass (CAR) which has 2 pickups also and produces that sweet Jazzbass tone with both pickups going on equal volume. I take it the toggle switch on yours is 3-way.
OK, so no duckfeet tuners on the bass but then I do spot that your hardshell case sports a 'duckfeet' pull-tag! LOL.
The case looks to be original too. WOW!!!

Great find, Marty! I looked at your site and that's quite a nice Mosrite (and Fender) collection.
I'm jealous...
I should have stayed in California years ago...No real surf scene in Delaware...

Hey Paul, The case is indeed original and in nice shape, better condition than the bass. That Aria VMB-75 is a nice bass! -MT

A more popular concept for the "duckfeet" is seen in this photo (hairdo misspelled):


For Mosriters it's accepted as duck's feet, but others see Bart Simpson's haircut and one guitar owner even made his headstock look like Bart's head!

On a serious note though, for those (like me) who did not catch on from the start that the Mosrite "duckfeet" tuners are, of course in fact, mini Mosrite headstock shapes and as I see it, Semie going 'over the top' on this one

Why did Semie go to Fender tuners? The duckfeet Mo ones seem to work fine, even after many decades, in this opinion.

It was the other way around on the tuners. Semie started the Ventures model Mosrite Bass with the Fender knobs and then changed to the more disticntive duckfeet knobs. They do indeed work fine as I understand it.
