NGD: '66 Combo

Postby vibramute » Sun Jul 01, 2012 1:23 pm

I finally got myself a Combo! You may remember this guitar was on Ebay with a $2,900 BIN that eventually slid down to $2,500 (which was still a bit high, IMHO). After sitting for over 3 months with no bids I contacted the seller (who is local) and made a very fair cash offer a little over market value, but was turned down. The seller eventually pulled the auction and I figured that was the end of that. Friday I got a call from the seller saying he desperately needed to move the guitar and would take less then my offer if I could get him cash by the end of the weekend. I just couldn't pass up a deal like that ;)

It's definitely a 'low miles' guitar; no checking, minimal dings, no belt rash, no fretwear, etc. The case pocket even has the extra vibrato spring with the tag 'for heavy gauge strings' still attached. It needs a good cleaning, but other then that it's a soild 9.5/10. I pined after this particular guitar for months and never thought I'd have it. I'm still kind of in shock I ended up with it. :o

Nice score. It looks to be in premium condition.

I've never actually owned a Mosrite. But one of these is quite appealing.

Man-o-man, fantastic news right there! Congratulations vibramute, there couldn't be a better one coming round any day soon IMO. It's true, good things come to those who wait! Enjoy, just by looking at her all day long, for starters :D

thanks for the nice words guys...yeah, I'm still kind of in shock that I ended up with it. After my initial offer was refused through Ebay, I figured I'd never have a shot. It just goes to show...ya never know!

Tonight is date night with my lovely bride so I won't get to put it through it's paces till tomorrow, but I'm sure looking forward to cleaning it up, stringing it up and doing some picking!

Congrats! That one is a beauty - mine is a tad bit beat, but I love it still. I'm sure you'll enjoy it for a loooong time.

It's okay but I'd sand the finish off and paint flowers on it.

Wow! that is a beauty, congrats!

The only thing you're missing is about 2lbs of rags stuffed into it and of course nails in the neck attachment. ;)
