YT Video Demos of my two Mosrite guitars

Postby 101Volts » Fri May 10, 2013 8:39 pm

For all who will listen, Here are some video demonstrations of my two Mosrite guitars. I'm not Phil X, But you can hear the tonal comparison between E chords fairly well here.

Mosrite Ventures II (Model 3; Essentially the same as a MK V)

Brass Rail Deluxe:

I used the same amp settings for both videos. One thing I didn't note in-video is, The low E string on the brass rail is a little low because the zero fret is worn down. I may put a small piece of brass underneath that guitar's strings to raise it.

Also, That active circuit of the Brass Rail is quite loud. If you ever wanted to go from 11 to 22, That might be one way of doing it but you might want to wear some heavy-duty ear plugs, Strap the amp down and, Uh, I'm exaggerating; It's not about to blow you into orbit around the planet but like I said, It's loud.

And the guitars may sound more trebley in-video than they do in life; I'd actually like to put in some push-pull pots in my Ventures II to switch between 500k and 1000k potentiometer settings for a more Fender-ey sound when I'd like it. Though the Ventures II may sound similar to a Tele in the video, It's not. It's "Darker", Rounder, Etc, Than a Tele which sounds more like a Banjo.

Thanks, Ed, And thanks for the guitar parts for it! The pickups sound spot-on with early B-52's guitar tone to me!

I'm not sure what strings I have on it now, I think they might be 9s and they sound nicer than the 10s I had on it before. I think I could overdrive an amp with 8s, Even.
