How can I find out what year my Ventures Mark V was manufactured? The serial # appears to be B1503.

Thanks for the help. I have owned my guitar since 1970 but purchased it used at that time. Is there a place I can go to authenticate it's age? Any information will be helpful. Thanks again

You can carefully dismount the neck and it will be stamped on the heel underneath. You can also check the pot code dates. As well, the Mark V was not produced until 1966 (before that it was called a Ventures II), and the Ventures logo was gone by 1967. So unless it was right on the edge of production, it is a 1966. I have never personally seen a Mark V that was a 1965 or one with a Ventures logo that was a 67.

Thanks Bob for the information. Even though I have owned this guitar for over 40 years, I have never did any research about it. We are in the process of downsizing and I am trying to decide whether to hold onto it or not. This forum is a great help to people like me that know very little about the Mosrite history. I own a Ventures II German Carve. I haven't yet played a Ventures I, I just can say that the Ventures II G.C./Mark V doesn't allow soloing high up on the neck as easily as a Ventures II and the neck pickup isn't angled and so, it has a slightly different tone than a Ventures I in the neck pickup; how so? I'm not sure. Mine does have what I believe are the stock frets, they're .070 thick and .022 high at highest - on the bass side of the neck. They taper down to .015 high on the treble side, so they are indeed speed frets. Real easy to slide up and down the neck with, not so easy to bend on but I don't have this guitar to bend strings on so much.
