I didn't expect that I'd see the day. It's up to $60,500, last time I checked, a few hours ago.

I did. I knew eventually this guitar would turn up in an auction. I also knew that there'd be no way I could buy it.

I just kind of hope it goes to someone that appreciates what it is. I don't want some bigwig non-guitar player investor/collector to end up with it. It belongs with someone that will respect it's legacy. That's my hope anyway.

Yeah, I just wasn't thinking of it showing up for sale eventually.

I hope that the neck screw holes were fixed. I read somewhere that in the touring years, the neck was just held in with string tension, which is ridiculous. It doesn't take much to fix that issue, just let some wood glue dry on the sides of the hole walls, and it's good.

Ha yeah. I've also read from one of his former techs that the bridge will literally fall to pieces if you aren't prepared for that and try to change all of the strings at the same time.

It's kind of a miracle that guitar lasted as long as it did.

those stories are entertaining, but Mr. Ramone was the taskmaster of the band. he set the high standard that the Ramones had. i would find it hard to believe that he could give Dee Dee all the what for that he did concerning performance with his own guitar in the shitter. Mosrite bridges fall off without the strings to hold them down. i do love the lore of it but it is far from the truth. almost 2,000 gigs at 2 hours+(the only break was the 1234 between songs). that guitar took some abuse, sure, and we know why he stuck with it. last that i noted it jumped $30,000 in a day. my question is will it make a million?

In case you missed the live auction today, it sold for $750,000. Sadly, that's out of my league by about $749,000.

I saw it. I'm wondering how much each other Ventures II Slab just jumped up in expected market value. There was also a Johnny Ramone Singnature Guitar from 2000 or so, a Fillmore Mosrite MK II, that ended at I think $33,000 in the same auction.
