Thanks, Marty, for the demo. It's a rare opportunity to get a side by side comparison such as this. What was the manual you were flipping through at the end? Is that a manual for the amp with a schematic so many are desperately searching for?

Great video, Marty! Is the in amp fuzz before or after the preamp circuit? Just curious if placement further along in the signal chain might be giving it the more beefy tone than the pedal.

Mel, judging by what some members have mentioned about the fuzz in the amp having a 'squashed sound,' my guess is more
than likely the fuzz is after the preamp section. Most amplifiers built now days have the FX following the preamp circuit which
explains why most overdrive/fuzz/distortion have that compressed effect. However a lot of musicians like that type of 'squashed'
effect including myself  . My amp's signal chain sequence is: preamp>overdrive/dist/fuzz>chorus>delay/reverb ;) .

Hi Danny,

Thanks for checkin' it out. I didn't realize so many were looking for the schematic. Is the one at http://www.musicparts.com/products.asp?Company=Award, not too good? I'll post my scan at http://www.planktones.com/PageAward.html . It's what I would describe as fair jpeg quality.

Thanks Mel.
I'll have to refer you to the schematic for the answer to your FuzzRite postition question. I've posted it at http://www.planktones.com/PageAward.html.

Marty,

Thanks for posting the whole manual! So, the Award Fuzzrite is before the preamp, just like the outboard one. However, the voltages in the onboard circuit are higher - looks like 30V as opposed to 9V in the pedal. Not sure how that would affect things, or if the circuit is otherwise different, but interesting nonetheless.

Yeah, I don't know how different the circuits are between the internal and outboard Fuzzrites. Maybe someone here who has a good knowledge of the outboard can look at the picture of the internal Mosrite works as they appear in the scan and give us the lowdown.

Providing the audible comparison was the intention of my video. To my ears, there's more similarity than differences in the sound of the two but the internal version definitely has more lower range tones. Incidentally, I know the Fulltone OCD distortion pedal accepts any voltage between 9v and 18v. They claim that there are some significant differences when going to the higher voltage.

Thanks Marty, you just put a smile on a few Mosrite Amp owners here on the Forum ;) .

Glad to oblige. Who are the other Award owners on the list? -Marty
