ok,here we are,talking about "the best clone" you could get for the right amount of money.
vintage Mosrite costs now like a car ,and hter's nothing to do with most of us,but we have a lot of fun too with those good clones.
at now I have (the long waited..)Ranger dx 65 sunburst(now it works!!),but as I feel-contaminated-from that guitar style,I plan to get a white one.
so which one??
1. a Kurokamo?
don't know where to find them
Japanes never reply to my e mails
2.an Excellent?
if I'll luky to find one
3.another Fillmore Ranger?
4.Hallmark custom 60
look so nice ..pups seems a little darker than a Fillmore :somebody......is getting insane about those"clones"..............

I prefer the Ranger over the Hallmark 60, which I prefer over the Excellent. This is only based on the individuals I've seen myself. Haven't tested a Kurokamo.

The modern American made Mosrites can, in a way, be seen as clones also. I would check them out - even though are more pricey and I don't know any real reason why. Does anyone else?

I love the sound of my Ranger,but as I didn't listen to the others,I'm wandering wich are the differences.
I listen to a clip with a Hallmark,with the Kilaueas ,but it didn't impress me a lot.
I'll find out a white one..............

I really like your music!

All I have are "clones" and 1 PartsRite, and in order of sound and playability:
1). My PartsRite, with pups reworked by Eddy Elliott, hands down.
2). Hallmark 60 Custom stock pups
3). Early 70s MIJ copy (Fillmore? It has the "teardrop" neck plate) Bigger neck and great pups
4). Another early 70s MIJ copy - replaced original pups with Hallmarks
5). Recently acquired MKI Super Excellent Custom 65 - hardware and pups don't compare with any of the above, although the neck profile is excellent.

Well guys, as far as I've learned Mosrite Excellent are made by Kurokomo so your discussion seem a little off...are you sure you've tried an Excellent, Chemo?

Thanks, Danny ... I may in the future send these out to Eddy for rework - they're just not very "beefy" - kind of thin-sounding.

The Mosrite Rangers are quality instruments,and play very well.
the ones I have for sale (forum member price $1400. with gig bag) are ready to go.
The new Mosrite originals have better metal work,switchcraft switch,CTS pots,correct strap buttons and knobs,hand-wound,great sounding pickups wound by Dana Moseley,and are completely assembeled in Bakersfield, California,and come with a G&G U.S.A. made alligator case.(forum members price on a '65 model $2800)
the closest "clone" , and made by the continuation of the original Mosrite Co.
