Hi all. I have a dilemma I'd like to share and perhaps get some thoughts if you don't mind.
I currently own a 1966 Mosrite Mark II, serial #B610. It's completely original and is in pretty good nick for it's age. It has a killer tone and a great feel, BUT, the fretboard is very narrow and I find it pretty difficult to form chords and pick cleanly on it because the strings are just so close together. I previously owned an older Fillmore Mark II and didn't have this issue, in fact, the fretboard was extremely comfortable and was one of the things I loved about that guitar.
So, I am going to Japan in December, and as my wife's family lives not so far from the Kurokomo workshop in Nagano, I am considering paying them a visit and buying a guitar from them. They can be bought for around $1200 new.
I love my USA Mos, and can think of a heap of reasons to keep it, but if I'm honest, it just isn't an ideal player for me. So, does anyone have any feedback on the playability of the Kurokomos, as well as just general impressions about the guitars?
Ideally, I'd keep the US Mos, but I can't really do that at this time.
Your thoughts welcome.
Scott

Re: A dilemma
I am a happy Kurokumo owner. You can read all about it here:

The thread is dated, so some pics have since been pulled by eBay, but it's a lovely sunburst Mark I.
Reading your (luxury) dilemma, I'd say, go for it and try and get a fair amount for your '66 Mark II in order to pay for a fine Kurokumo of your choice, hopefully leaving you with some cash to spare.
Remember, we all will have to part with our belongings one day, so enjoy what you are able to while you can.
