I wonder why some of these guitars don't have the ' Of California" under the Mosrite logo while others do. It seems odd to make every detail accurate except for that.
I've also heard that nearly all of them have a small crack in the paint near the neck join —mine included.
Is that the case with yours?

my Johnny model was made by fillmore before they legally had the mosrite name. to remove the "of california" i'm assuming it was a way to cover there asses in case of a law suit. this is only a guess however.
Every Johnny model I've seen has the crack in the neck joint, I'm guessing it's because of the neck joint design, which is the only design faw in these guitars, in my opinion. one thing to think about though. all the japanese mosrites (somebody correct me if I'm wrong here) have poly finishes, whereas the original ones made by semie was in nitro. I wonder if a nitro finish have enough give to prevent this from happening.
this would be a good time for Arite to speak up.

Contrary to popular belief, poly will give more than lacquer.

i disagree with you Jim. I work with both in my shop almost on a daily basics, and i've had better experiences with nitro. the nice thing about poly however, is that it's so easy to take care of in maintenance, where nitro can be a pain for some people.

That is seriously cool. Make sure you only change the strings three at a time.

The neck of Johnny's main guitar was supposedly held on only by the tension of the strings; he'd warn his techs to "only change them three at a time or the neck will fall off"!
