Mosrite - The Ramone's model

Postby guitarnerd » Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:14 pm

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board. I'm wondering if anyone here has any info on the Ramones model Semie was working on with Johnny Ramone?

I've posted up a story on my guitarnerd blog with the info I have: http://www.guitarnerd.com.au/?p=2129
Any further information I could ad to the article would be appreciated.

Cheers - Tony

I saw this guitar on the I Dont Wanna Grow Up music video (That has no sound anymore) and I was going to post the same thing.

Also did anyone ever clone this baby?

The blue one Tim owns used to be mine. I found it at a pawn shop in Tokyo years ago. The white one also came from Japan.

Thanks Adam. That's amazing it ended up in a pawnshop! I thought Japanese Mosrite collectors would've been all over it. The white one has a few battle scars on it, so someone obviously had fun with it before Tim got it.

Wow! That looks amazing! That pickguard really makes this guitar look menacing. Like a superhero-like Mosrite.
I'm absolutely positive that there is a picture out there of Semie handing a one-pickup black one to Johnny. It's the only picture of a black one like this I've ever seen.

Very nice Adam! I only ever saw the picture with Johnny and Semie. And it was black & white!

Cool photos. I saw the ones Adam posted at Lorettas years ago along with some others. They gave Semie a leather jacket too. As I recall, Loretta told me the black guitar went to a fan in Italy, the band delivered it. At least that's what I was told, so don't take it to the bank. I was also told that about a dozen Ramones models were made, can't say how many were made before and after Semies passing. As for Johnnys input, he told Semie he wanted a "sharkfin" pickguard, which I personaly think is very cool.
