Hallmark Guitars and Gene Winfield

Postby Bob Shade » Wed Nov 16, 2011 9:26 am

Hello Mosriteers!

We just teamed up with legendary Kustom car builder Gene Winfield for a really cool project! This number 1 in a series guitar is owned by Dan Moses, of the fabulous Dynotones. This is a H60C hand painted just like the award winning "Jade Idol" car that helped Gene Winfield get noticed back in the old days with his unique custom car building. Gene is still at it today @ 84 years old and he just spoke to me on the phone a few weeks ago and exclaimed he spun out at 250 MPH on the salt flats racing that weekend. Nothing seems to slow Gene down. For more info and pic's on Gene Winfield simply visit: http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Jade_Idol

Anyone interested in obtaining a genuine H60C/ hand painted Gene Winfield Guitar with options please feel free to contact us.

That is just too darn cool! When I was a kid, I was really into custom cars--I used to build models, tried to do custom paint jobs on them, never got very good at it. When I started playing guitar at about age 12, all that interest got focused on the guitar, but I still enjoy looking at custom cars. Good to hear that Gene Winfield is still around--he and George Barris are about the only guys from that scene still left. I was into Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and Darryl Starbird too--Roth is gone; don't know about Starbird. Anyway, the lines of the Mosrite Ventures/Hallmark C60 really lend themselves to metalflake and pearl paint jobs, don't they!

Thanks guys, I think it is cool to get these old legendary car guys involved on some degree in our custom guitars. If you think about it, a custom guitar builder and custom car builder are kindred spirits, so why not collaborate?

Gene Winfield is amazing, he still gets up early every day, eats Wheaties like clock work, does push ups, sit ups etc. Drinks milk with every meal, and let me tell you this guy is still in shape, you shake genes hand and at 84 it is still like a rock.

I was talking to a friend that knows a Gene story to give you an idea of how Gene lives. He said Gene flew to Germany to paint a car for someone, and after a 12 hr. flight, Gene gets dropped off and they meet Gene and said "Well I guess you want to get some rest, and Gene says, no, I want to paint the car now"

So, Gene proceeds to paint the car. The next morning ( he was a guest at their house) they heard some funny noises coming from the guest room, like moaning, and so on. They went to check on him and he was exercising doing pushups. These old legend guys are hard to keep up with man!

Anyway, I feel honored that these old legends George Barris, and Gene Winfield give me the time of day, and it has been a very rewarding experience for me to say the least.

If anyone wants one of these guitars for their very own, we can offer any of our models painted personally by Gene Winfield. Each numbered and signed by Gene. If you google him and go to images you can get some really great ideas going. I am looking at a gold and white one myself.

Effin it don't go, chrome it!
