Hi guys,
some updates on my Ventures II data base website:
http://www.hang10.de/mosrite-ventures-2-serial-numbers/
32 slab bodies so far, 17 with known serial number, 15 with unknown # (without Johnny's black/black) – I hope there are no doublets ;)
Any additional information welcome!
Thanks to Phil for showing me this one: http://www.myspace.com/therorkusjinx.
Cheers, Max

Hey guys,
some updates can be found at my s/n collection, three more slab Ventures II meanwhile, for example a guitarist (Steve Spenard?) of the infamous GG Allin & the Jabbers appears to have played a sunburst one in 1982 (beware, NSFW):

Max, Do you have this one documented?

There's also this long-guard model which has been discussed on the forum before (Part of the body was cut off for higher fret access at one point):

Austin
1966 Ventures II (German Carved, B670.)
1970s "Not a Blues Bender" Bodies: 2.
1976 Brass Rail Deluxe #10.
2013 Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI.

Max, Could you please update the one I have? (B670 over B641) I do have it as a functional guitar now, Though not all stock; The pups and pickguard were crafted by Ed Elliott. As of this date it hasn't been refinished either.

Hey Austin,

great, I've just updated my little site http://www.hang10.de/mosrite-ventures-2-serial-numbers/. Thanks for the info.
35 slabs so far (without Johnny Ramone's black/black), 22 of them with serial number. And thanks to two discoveries in Japan (B080 and B09x) the gap between B052 and B101 seems to close... ;)

Speaking of Johnny's black slab with black neck and headstock: Does anyone have some info about that guitar? Johnny's played it as backup guitar between around 1978 and 1982 and it looks quite different from all other slabs – I guess it's not a real Mosrite. But who made it, and where is it now? Here's a good picture (live San Francisco '78, photo by Chester Simpson):

(from http://cretin-family.tumblr.com/post/42222678709/zombiesenelghetto-ramones-san-francisco-photo – thanks!)

R.I.P. Johnny – nine years now...

Cheers, Max

Thanks. I did read somewhere that Johnny played two guitars which were clones of the Slab Body guitar and one was a sunburst played in a music video from 1981 or 1982 which was banned from TV?
