Did you guys get to talk to Bob Shade any and if so did he say when the hallmark II is being released? I've been lusting after that since I heard they were making them. :D

This one threw me. Obviously new, but I can't quite make out
what it says on the Headstock (who's model?).
And what's up with the different hardware and signatures??
Image
And this one too!! Titled: The MYSTERY DOUBLENECK. Not trying
to get everyone excited, but the wheels are turning upstairs, and
I'm wandering if this might possibly be the first Doubleneck Mosrite?
Reasons:
1) The pickguard is VERY MUCH shaped like on a Mosrite, with the
pick-up selector switch in the correct position for a Mo.'
2) Could that big "S" on the Headstock actually stand for Semie?
There were some similar models that were floating around of a
Ventures Model with an "S" on it, or maybe it actually said
'Semie' on it instead of 'Mosrite'? Adam (dorkrockrecords)
would know......or I could just be TOTALLY off base....... .
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Maybe Mel or someone else knows the story on that one Dennis, I don't recall seeing it. However, I was mesmerized with all the stuff to see and over looked several guitars.

Below is a photo of a sun burst '63 Vibramute that was built by the lead guitar player of The Ghastly Ones. From what I understand he casts all the hardware and made the pickups and covers too. Deke handed it to me and I examined this guitar from every angle. It is one of the best built replicas I've ever seen bar none. I doubt if Semie could tell the difference. I had seen one other last year at Arties Front Porch and was told the same thing but I found it hard to believe at the time. There was also a candy apple sparkle red Ventures model with white logo that he built. I believe it's the one in the front. They are perfect in every way. Spoken from a guy who builds guitars, this guys quality is OUTSTANDING. I'm wondering if this is who Dana maybe partnering up with. Maybe I can find out something now that the NAMM show is over.

Thanks Mel for this PIC!! I just won a $100 bet with someone!
He swore up and down that Semie did not do matching Headstocks in 1965,
even though my '65-66 Combo has one......

Just a sudden thought: the top of the headstock shape of the MYSTERY DOUBLE NECK could be (meant to be?) a stylised letter "R" (for Rickenbacker?) and the big "S" indeed perhaps for Semie who possibly 'farthered' the guitar while working there? :o Bear in mind that Semie also later designed his own Mosrite headstock with a stylised letter ("M") :!:
Boy oh boy, I'm probably way off track...

This is a parts-rite that Bill Gruggett put together for Steve Soest of the Torquays - hence "The Torquays" model. Since Steve usually plays Jazzmasters, it's got a JM bridge and vibrato (under a custom plate). I forgot to ask about the signatures.
Oy vey - it's MESHUGGA BEACH PARTY - The world's premier Jewish Surf Music Band!

What? Couldn't tell the logo is a link? So click here, what's the hold up? http://www.meshuggabeachparty.com

Yes, that three pickup model caught my eye - it apparently belongs to Brian Lonbeck. I should have asked him the story behind it, and how the switching works.

I'm glad I helped you land $100 bet - when should I expect my commission? :)
