Hey guys and gals,
I though I'd show off a few photos of one of my new RS model
guitars. The RS models are based on the very first Reverse Strat design
Uncle Semie came up with for Standel by fliping a Strat over and
tracing around it. This design morphed into the Joe Maphis, and finally
The Ventures model, Anyway I think they have a real vintage cool
about them.
The RS comes in 4 models, 1 pickup "Student", 2 Pickup "Standard",
3 pickups "DeLuxe" and the RS-JR my tribute to Johnny Ramone this
guitar comes with 1965 Ventures II style pickups and pickguard.
Standard colors: Sunburst, Pure white, Jet Black, Candy apple red,
Lite Blue, Sparkle Gold and Sparkle Silver.
All E.F.Elliott Guitars are Hand-built in the good ol' USA.
Thanks for taking a look!
Ed Elliott

Gosh, Ed; absolutely stunning.
The little touches for the saddle, the neck flowing into the body, the tailpiece, are artistic and elegant. It somehow manages to be retro yet futuristic at the same time.
That's the most attractive "student" guitar I have EVER seen. You must be very proud of your work.

Hey Ed,
You did a great job reproducing this guitar. It's beautiful! Much prettier than the beat up old original hanging in Artie's shop. For those that aren't familiar with this guitar, I made a trace drawing of the original while I had it in my possession and sent it to Ed. So, unless I'm mistaken, this guitar is virtually an exact replica. Here is a link to the original guitar discussed last year. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1644

Wow, Danny. I had read that thread earlier this year but hadn't connected the guitar Ed made with it. Ed's guitar looks so clean and new compared to that one from Artie's collection!
I wonder how many of those guitars-- the originals, I mean-- were made and sold?

Having had the chance to play the original as well as Eddie's RS model, I can say it's a dead ringer, except in better than new condition. I didn't get a chance to plug in the RS, only to strum it a bit at Deke's show, but I did get to play the original electrified, and the combination of the pickup location and the aluminum bridge gives it great attack along with a full tone.
How big a run of guitars are you making? One of each model?

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your comments! My ol' frend Bill Gruggett told me when he
started working for Semie around 1961-62 they were building a batch
of about 20 of the Student models, I'm not sure how many got put together
and sold. I've only seen 2, the one Artie Niesen has, and a photo of a nother
one that on Tym's guitars website, Ive got a photo of that one.
Thanks,
Ed

I just love the simplicity of that Elliott Student Model. Swanky in a way that the original is not, somehow.
Yep, Ed; you will have to tackle the long-scale bass. It will be a looker, that much I know!
