Kinda Rare Wilson Bros. Jazzmaster Copy

Postby ZacJM » Mon May 10, 2010 7:03 pm

So back in the fall of 09 I had saved up to get a Wilson Bros. guitar online, but sadly they were all backorderd. I contacted WB themselves and spoke with Tim Wilson through email who told me they were preparing for a big sale in Jan. and that nothing new would be made or shipped until it was over. I soon went to go find a dealer and luckily I found Art Greenhaw, producer of The Ventures and does alot of work with Nokie, in the Dallas area and we spoke on the phone and he said he had two models. The VM 110 and the VM 100. The 100 model is also called the Bogle Model as its a jazzmaster clone. Very cool guitar and I opted for it over the straty/mosrite look of the typical model. I've only seen one on ebay awhile back and when I contacted WB again Tim told me it was a pretty rare guitar as they will probably not make many more of them. He never told me how many were made but the serial number on mine is 019337. Anyways a pretty cool guitar, has some nice tones and a joy to play:

Well, a happy WB customer! Good for you Zac -I've never seen this particular shape in a WB guitar before, it is indeed probably quite rare -unless there may be many floating around in Japan. Let me make a wild guess and say it's made bij the Japanese "Aria" guitar company too :?

awhile back there was one in Great Britain on ebay that was sunburst but its since dissappeered and the guy didn't have a picture of the specific guitar just the one off the WB page. From what I've heard from WB and the guy I bought it from its almost one of a kind.

Interesting. Did you see the Sunburst version on OffsetGuitars.com? (you need to scroll down a bit to see it).

That is a very cool pic! Very different then mine on the shape of the body but still very similar to the JM. I wonder when it was made? It almost has more of a Tele shape than a JM, nonetheless a very cool photo, might be very similar to how the SB one I found on ebay was actually colored.

Another thing I noticed on mine is that it's missing the supposed zero fret it was supposed to have:

if you compare the photos from that to mine you can see the difference at the nut.
