Guitar Delivered!

Postby wombat » Fri Jul 23, 2010 5:17 pm

Hey, hey! It has arrived! :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
I think that the seller did a nice job of describing the condition this Celebrity, and he did an absolutly fantastic job of packaging it!

I've only taken it out of the box and looked it over. I haven't plugged it in, or even brought the detuned strings back up to pitch, so I'm trusting that it's all good as far as playability.

There is quite a bit of fret wear at the first few frets, and a lot of wear on the finger board down there. That's cool! Obviously someone loved the way that this guitar sounds! 8-)

I'm considering not even tuning it up and playing it, but taking it straight to my guitar tech to have it gone over, and set up for me. I won't ask it to pose for a full photo session until it's cleaned up quite a bit.

I AM STOKED! :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Very nice 1972 Celebrity-III. This one has a fairly unique paint scheme in that they outlined the F holes in black. I don't think I've seen that before. Cool! What's the serial number of this one? Oh wait, it's 3C0172B isn't it. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what the "B" stands for! Would you look to see if there is a label inside the F hole and see if the serial number matches the fretboard? Thanks!

Your Celebrity looks like its in great shape, Wombat! How does the neck feel to you, What strings are you going to put on your Celebrity and do I see binding on the neck?

Great looking Celeb ... congrats on the score. Let us know how it plays, in comparison to any other guitars you use.

That's a very interesting hypothesis. I hope someone else chimes in on it. Interestingly, it looks like the same font and size as the "C" after the "3".
