Hello from Mexico

Postby Yuliboe » Sat May 21, 2011 9:39 am

Hello all. My name is Ulises and I live in Monterrey, Mexico.
I bought my Mosrite guitar back in around 1968. I was a BIG HUGE Ventures fan, so I had to get that guitar. It was a Mark I sunburst.
I (Stupid of me) sold it some years later to buy a Gretsch Super Axe, which was later stolen.
I see that Mosrites are being sold again in Las Vegas. I am seriously thinking about buying one of those reissues.
Any comments from knowledgeable people here?

Best Regards.

Ulises.

Welcome to the forum. I think the members here often suggest having a look at Hallmark Guitars as well as the Fillmore Mosrites sold through Front Porch Music in Bakersfield, CA. Have a look at them you might be very impressed with the quality and pricing.

Thank you.
I've heard that any Mosrite bearing the name Hallmark or Excellent is a fake and to be carefull about them.

The link to Mosritecelebrity in your sig seems not to be working. :(

I would strongly recommend visiting the following two guitar sites below first, before taking a possible 'gamble' in Las Vegas. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2236&hilit=ed+roman

I own a Hallmark 60 Custom myself and as for playability, prefer it to a real vintage Mosrite. http://hallmarkguitars.com/
Artie Niesen from Front Porch Music is a member here too [Bakeoboy] and he offers forum members a discount! http://www.frontporchmusic.net/

Welcome to the Mosrite forum Yuliboe

Hi, Ulises--

If you do a search on this forum regarding any make of guitar, you might find that interesting.

You can also do a search on vendors and get info about them.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you read Ed Roman's site, He takes the term "Fake" A bit far. Hallmarks and Excellents don't pose to be actual Mosrites, They aren't counterfeits or they'd have both shut down a while ago. If you want an actual Mosrite guitar the best way to go is with a reissue, Hallmarks are nicely priced similar instruments though.

Hola! Welcome to the forum. You would not believe how many times people have posted laments over first guitars they should never have sold...it's part of life I guess, we move on, and sometimes our stuff doesn't!

Ulisies, my website is back online. It goes down a couple of times a year for maintenance I think.
