Latest Updates:
==============

December, 2023:

Now that I'm an Admin here, I've deleted many of my own replies to this specific thread while saving each one in text files. The thread went from 118 replies to 15.

28 December 2023:

Added:

KB0016 - Natural - Early 300 Bass Neck Pickup construction.
https://reverb.com/item/67712418-1974-m ... o-300-bass
KB0024 - Brown - Later 300 Bridge Pickup construction.
https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-of ... t-27721921

Also realized that the "KB0012" that I had in the speculated section was actually KB0022, which was already on the list, so the false listing has been removed.

2024:

April 2:

Added KB0002, which is a strange early 350 Bass; although it's refinished, the Pickup Covers are Aged White, like the Pickguard.
https://imperialvintageguitars.com/prod ... tar-w-ohsc

May 25:

Added:

A0170 or v0170 - Mono model. Natural finish. Mentioned in the comments here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3294258 ... 806527305/

May 26:

Added:

A0111 - Mono, Natural. I have photos of this one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3294258 ... 806527305/

This entry forced me to put another one already on the list and numbered as A0111 (Mono, Burgundy) into a new Duplicate section, because I have no photos of the older entry.

June 11:

Details of pot code added to A0072.

August 26:

A0274 (Dark Blue) Added.

Also removed extra numbers from the list above each individual instrument section. I often forgot to update them, and they seem redundant.

August 30:

AB109 (Red Burst) Added.
https://reverb.com/item/84274980-vintag ... ass-guitar

September 5:

Update to A0274 - it's a dark blue, not black. And the finish seems to be original.

September 21:

A0271 sold again, in March.

========
Legend:
========

Instruments that are finished in any kind except Natural, White or Yellow will have their finish set in colored text, except for Black. Black instruments will use Bold Text, to stand out more clearly.

Also, one note - this thread has over 700,000 views, probably since I used to have 118 replies to it. I cannot believe that even 25,000 of those views are real. I'm sure most of those are from spambots.

Model Trivia:
============

The 300 and 350 models were introduced in the 1970s, but I'm not sure exactly when; 1971 or 1972? They seem to have gone until 1974.

300 Models:

300 models are 1-Pickup (in stock form) models. They came as Guitar and Bass. Few have shown up, though I don't think they'd be any more valuable than a 350 model in 2022. Guitars seem to have only had the pickup in the Neck position, but the list is incomplete, yet. It seems like more 300 Basses exist than 300 Guitars.

Also, the 300 Basses come in 2 versions: the very earliest versions have a neck pickup, and both a body and neck joint identical to the 350 model. By KB0022 (and maybe even KB0012,) the body and neck joint changed. The pickup position also changed to be a Bridge Pickup. These later, more common versions have a slightly smaller body than their 350 counterparts, and the neck extends farther into the body with a different neck heel construction. It's like the differences between the Mosrite Ventures vs. the Mosrite Ventures Mark V; the first one has a tongue for the neck end, the latter is more like a Fender neck end.

350 Models:

350 models are 2-pickup models that came as Guitar and Bass. There are "Stereo" (2 cord output, to send each pickup signal to a different amp, if desired) and "Mono" (1 cord output) models of each Guitar and Bass. It appears that Stereo models are more common than Mono models. The Mono models only seem to have been made between A0100 and A0185, but not all of those in that # range are Mono models.

Typical Specs for 300 and 350 Models:

24.50" Scale Length (Guitar,)
30.00" or maybe 30.25" Scale Length (Bass.)
Mosrite Humbucker Pickups.
Basswood or Mahogany Body (Mahogany ones are Naturally Finished.)
Maple or Mahogany Neck (Mahogany ones are Naturally Finished.)
Rosewood Fretboard
Mosrite "M" Knobs (but not always.)

Exceptions do exist, though. Tim Brennan has 2 examples that each have 1 Mosrite Single Coil Pickup and 1 Humbucker, and there's another guitar with Single Coils. The Knobs are also not always "M" Knobs, and 2 styles of plastic knobs have been seen. A0049 and three or four others have one style, and A0217, A0223, and A0227 have another type with black and numbered plastic knobs.

K0006: Natural. Owned by forum member mosriteforever. Mentioned at the same link as K0005, above.
K0010: ? One probably stock humbucking pup at neck position, no bridge pup. Mentioned first here, by Moaimen: viewtopic.php?p=71576#p71576
K0016: ? Has a probably stock and slanted Neck Humbucker, and a Single Coil Bridge Pup (which was probably added later.) It has 2 knobs, 3 switches, and Mono wiring. Mentioned first here, by Moaimen: viewtopic.php?p=71576#p71576

Speculated # Section:

K0009: Natural. Pic saved. Vaguely appears to be K0009, but I can't tell for sure in the photo. Doesn't have its stock pickup installed at the moment. It has been drilled to have a Bridge Pickup, too. It has a Bill Lawrence pup in the Bridge, a Seymour Duncan P90 in the neck, and an extra knob. 350 Basses:

Known #s

AB0002: Stereo. Likely refinished Red/Orange. Set Neck. Has White (Painted over Black) Pickup Covers. I'm uncertain of the originality of the set neck. https://imperialvintageguitars.com/prod ... tar-w-ohsc
AB0019: Stereo, Natural. Photos and eBay page saved. Was listed on eBay in Mid-May 2021. Here's a link to my Forum Post, where I also pasted the description: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=8073
AB0036: Stereo, Blue. Photos and page saved. Has a Maple neck. Ad says the body's made of Alder. This finish may be original, since it looks old, and it looks like it aged like other 350s. This is the second Blue 350 I've seen; A0148 (a Guitar) is also Blue. https://reverb.com/item/34060236-mosrit ... blue-1970s Photos from 2016, before this instrument was for sale on Reverb, show this instrument without a Mosrite logo. No Number: Mono, Natural. Pics and page saved. Oddly, it has Single Coils and 3 M Knobs. Has Grover tuners.
https://reverb.com/item/6616165-mosrite-mono-350' - Update, 2 Jan 2022: Link to one of the owner's photos of this bass: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mosrite ... 593284150/

Speculated #s:

AB0032: Stereo, Red. - Was on eBay Australia in March 2010, for sale by seller "waitebt." This is likely to be AB0032, but I can't make out the A, or the first digit after the B.
AB0047: Stereo, Brown. I'm not sure of the 4 that I read, but I'm more confident that there's a 7 at the end. - 2 Piece Neck. Pic and page saved. http://www.oldfrets.com/Mosrite.html

Unknown #s:

AB0xxx: Stereo, Black, owned by forum member HiFiHellcat. May or may not be the second instrument described just below this listing. Photos were not provided.
viewtopic.php?p=66715
AB0xxx: Stereo, Black (link no longer works, and was not saved at Wayback. Link saved just in the rare case someone might talk about it here.) May or may not be the instrument just above.

AB0xxx: Stereo, Black. Pic and page saved. Owned by The Gear Page member nmiller.
ABxxxx: - Stereo, Brown. showed up on eBay Australia in March 2010.

ABxxxx - Mono, Brown. Was posted on Reddit in February 2017: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bass/comments/ ... bes_on_me/

Later Ones (somewhere after AB0072. These are later, as evidenced by the cheaper knobs used:)

AB0xxx: Stereo, Aged White or Yellow (not the one below.) Belongs to, or belonged to forum member "coanda." It does have a #, but I can't tell what it is in the pic. viewtopic.php?p=59353#p59353
AB0xxx: Stereo, Lemon Yellow/Aged White Finish. Was on eBay in February 2011. Pics saved. Does not have M Knobs (just like A0345 which is also Yellow,) and it appears that Mosrite used cheaper knobs late in the model run.
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4063
AB0xxx: Stereo, White. Has the Radio Shack-type Knobs on it. I expect this is a late one. Shown in this Youtube video from user "Rusted Vacuum," but the bass was not played in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISR68ErQ_L8 UPDATE, 2021 - June - 5: Found 1 photo of the same bass, and saved it.

Original Knobs were replaced, originals not included. Also, someone added a switch to it where the Stereo switch should be, but now that I see it, the guitar didn't have a switch on it in 2020. A0269: Stereo, Brown Burst. Has a Maple Neck. Pics and page saved. Showed on Reverb on 17 August, 2022 from KINGTUT Guitars in Harrison, Arizona. https://reverb.com/item/59440568-mosrit ... l-original

https://reverb.com/item/12271768-mosrit ... rown-burst
A0271, Stereo, Brown Burst. Pics and page supposedly archived, but I'm not sure if I did. If I did, where did I put them? Sold by "hammondguy" on eBay on October 29, 2020 for $1,195. Has been refretted, and the zero fret is now stainless. - Update, 6 November 2022: This guitar was routed on the back at some point for weight removal, refer to this Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/wainwrightmusi ... uRRw9DHQ8l --- Also, because of the routing, I'm guessing it's a Mahogany Body and Neck. It was also re-listed for sale on this date, 6 Nov 2022: https://reverb.com/item/62949556-mosrit ... burst-1972 --- Update, 21 Sept 2024: Sold again around March 2024, for $1,399 + shipping. https://reverb.com/item/80546275-mosrit ... _sold=true
A0274: Dark Blue.. Basswood Body, Maple Neck. --- https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ELmSEkhK8eXk127j/
A0293, Stereo, Red Burst. Maple neck. Pics saved. A clear photo of it was posted on Facebook from "Blues Rock" in Hong Kong, and I saved the photo. This is highly likely to be the guitar I linked in the Reverb ad; the wood matches up. If it is the same guitar, they bought it without M Knobs, and added M Knobs later (which may or may not be accurate to how it was originally sold.) The older Reverb photos are barely legible, but I made out that they seemed to be A025? or A029?, judging by the closer photo. Reverb ad:
https://reverb.com/price-guide/guide/24 ... 0-1974-red
A0309, Stereo, "Walnut Burst" (probably a Brown Burst.) No pics. Had a nut instead of a metal string guide when it showed up in February 2014. I posted it years ago, and didn't save pics of it then. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=6118
A0329, Stereo, Black. Neck's painted Black, so I can't tell what neck wood was used from photos. Has M Knobs, and has a Bigsby added. Once owned by Michael Marks. http://home.insightbb.com/~marksma/wsb/ ... 63768.html
A0331, Stereo, Black, Maple Neck. Owned by Forum Member In-stereo.
A0343: Stereo, Natural. Seems to have a Mahogany neck. Knobs are Plastic, probably original. Sold by "Big Brothers Pawn Springdale" in
Springdale, AR, United States. Price: $1,100 + $150 shipping. https://reverb.com/item/39740038-mosrit ... s-mahogany
A0344, Stereo, Black. Seems to have a Maple Neck. Nate Gibson's Guitar. Pics saved. Has a Maple Neck, unusually. Has been customized and repaired, and it has M Knobs. The pinstriping on it was done by Charlie Decker, the Armrest and Pickguard by Sarah here on the forum, and Evan Williamson worked on the crumbling binding. Also, I saved a photo of what's probably it, pre-customization, from Eastwood Guitars' site. I tried, and I was then able to make out the numbers as being "A0?44:" --- https://eastwoodcustoms.com/projects/mosrite-350/ --- Also, here's the thread where Nate found it on Craigslist, and Adam mentioned that it has a maple neck here: viewtopic.php?p=14302#p14302
A0345, Stereo, Yellow. Maple Neck. Pics and page saved. Knobs are teardrop shaped. Listed on Reverb by Poway Jewelry and Loanon September 20, 2019. https://reverb.com/item/28163955-vintag ... ric-guitar
A0349: Stereo, Black. Does not have M knobs, but seems to have knobs from a radio. I was asked about it in comments here at one of Tym's Facebook Pages: https://www.facebook.com/Tymguitars/pos ... 6034397064 --- Update, June 27: The owner posted about it again, and posted photos. I saved the photos: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3294258 ... 272672064/
A0350: Stereo, Black or Forest Green. Maple Neck. Pics saved. A seller called this finish "Forest Green." Owned by forum member GTSP (as noted in the second link below.) Photos saved from his Photobucket page. It looks Black instead of Green to me, but maybe it's just the lighting in Jayson's photos, since I vaguely remember this guitar being green. Serial # is according to Jayson. Thanks for sharing the number.
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2630
viewtopic.php?p=32180#p32180
A0365, Stereo, Red Burst. Seems to have a Maple Neck, but the lighting in the pic's not very good. Has M Knobs. Pics and pages saved. Once owned by Michael Marks; he sold it. http://home.insightbb.com/~marksma/wsb/ ... ip-15.html

Duplicate Number:

A0111, Mono, Burgundy; This is according to the owner who posted on Facebook, but the post was then removed. I don't remember when I found this one, and since I never saw photos of it, this might be a different number, or it might actually be a duplicate. But as I've found one with this number that is not Burgundy and I have photos of it, this older entry goes here.

Partsrites:

No-Number "Super 350" Partsrite, Mono, Red - Pics and page saved, including 3 from the current owner. Has a 21 fret Sooner neck (originals are 22 fret,) and the neck appears to be Maple. It also doesn't have a solid rosewood fretboard. The headstock says "Super 350." Has one Volume Knob, and one Tone Knob. It has two unknown switches, near the Vol and Tone Knobs. It also has a Black Widow-sized pad on the back, which is on other instruments of Tony Hunt's. Currently owned by Pete Kenney.
https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/97 ... -with-case

If it's a Partsrite, if it was a more common guitar, I might not bother. But these 350s are so rare as it is, that I might as well.

Partial #s:

A002x, Stereo, Natural Finish
http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/1970-m ... er.301797/
A03xx - Stereo, Brown Burst. Pics saved. Belonging to one Kenneth Ray West, and I can only tell a probable first digit, making it now known as a A03xx number.

A0x51 (likely A0251?) - Stereo, Natural. Does not have M Knobs. Showed up on Facebook Marketplace.

Speculated #s:

Numbers in this section are as close as I could speculate, after looking at photos or by other speculation.

A0006, Stereo. "Light colored body wood." Seller gave number as "9000 V," which I think was read upside down by the eBay seller in 2004. This is not confirmed, though. First mentioned here, by moaimen: viewtopic.php?p=71576#p71576
A0038: Stereo, Natural, stock. Mahogany neck. Pics saved. Belongs to Tim Brennan. Can be seen at his Facebook post, here: https://www.facebook.com/Tymguitars/pos ... 0711924953
A0126 or A0128, Mono, Red. Maple neck. Was for sale on eBay on August 30, 2012 in the U.K. Photos have been saved.
A0134 or A0154: Mono, Red. Maple neck, seemingly. Has a Moseley Vibrato. May be A0134, but I can't tell the middle digit very well. https://www.sheltonsguitars.com/2008/1- ... 08-08.html
A0136, A0138, A0156, or A0158: Black. Earliest number for a Black one that I've ever seen, though I can only tell the first digit for sure. Was on Reverb in 2015 or 2016. Was for sale in London, England from Lucky Fret Music Co. Pics and page saved. https://reverb.com/item/2833557-1971-mosrite-350-black
A0275: Stereo, Brown Burst. Mahogany neck, natural headstock. I saved photos and the sales ad from "Emerald City Guitars" in Seattle, Washington. I can't see the A or the 0 in the one pic that I can read. The next digit seems to be a 2, but I'm not sure. I can tell that the last two digits are 75, though.
A0291: Stereo, Brown Burst. Has a Maple neck. It seems most likely to be A0291, judging from other Brown Burst guitars near this number and by how the 9 stamp appears on other guitars. This guitar has a Nut instead of its original String Guide. This is the guitar photographed on the side of this page, under the description for the 350 model:
https://reverb.com/p/mosrite-stereo-350-sunburst-1972
A0304: Stereo, "Bright" Sunburst (compared to the brown ones.) Appears to be A0304, but it's hard to tell. Knobs aren't the "M" type (but are possibly original.) Was apparently for sale from Detroit Guitar, since it's posted to their Pinterest page. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/552605816757739103/

Unknown #s:

A0xxx: Stereo. Black. Owned by Lil' Jimmy Reed, and is customized; has "Lil' Reed" on the body and headstock. It may be somewhere over the number A0300, judging by the numbers of known Black 350s. Video from 2013: https://youtu.be/ZYc0CtwvItQ
A0xxx: Stereo, Brown. Was for sale on eBay on March 24, 2011. Photos have been saved.
A0xxx: Stereo, Dark Blue. Has M Knobs. Pic saved. Pic shared by Charley Johnson on Facebook. This is the third Blue 350 I've seen. I'm not sure if it's original, or refinished.
A0xxx: Stereo, Natural. Mahogany neck. Appears to be in the first 100, but I can't tell for sure if it's A0067, A0069 or A0075. Appeared in late 2020, from Jean-sebastien's saucisserie shop in Baie Des Sables, Canada. Update, 14 Jan 2022: it's not A0057, that's accounted for. https://reverb.com/item/37253942-mosrit ... -week-deal
A0xxx: Stereo, Natural. It has knobs in common with A0049. Showed up in a video on Facebook, from Brian Edwards. https://www.facebook.com/brian.edwards. ... 6626059188
A0xxx: Stereo, Brown Burst.. Pic saved. I found the photo on Pinterest, and followed the link; it was down. I found the original ad in the Wayback Machine, but most of the photos weren't saved. Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/545568942334698760/ Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/201202200323 ... o-350.html
A0xxx: Stereo, Red. Showed up on Craigslist in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Posted on or by September 15, 2022. https://toronto.craigslist.org/tor/msg/ ... 28535.html
A0xxx: Mono, Red. Was for sale on eBay on August 30, 2012 in the U.K. Photos have been saved.
A0xxx: ???, ???, Brown Burst. Owned by (or formerly owned by) Forum Member Jon Fine (jfine.) Intro Post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2182&hilit=350 Mention of Finish: viewtopic.php?p=61035#p61035
A0xxx, Mono, ???, Owned by (or formerly owned by) Forum Member "Lespete456." viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5922&hilit=350

Tym Brennan's Unknown # 350s;
A0xxx: Mono, Natural. Has a Mosrite Single Coil in the bridge.
A0xxx: Mono, Dark Sunburst. Has a Maple Ventures neck, a Mosrite single coil in the neck position, and a Mosrite stop-tailpiece screwed into a Moseley Vibrato Base Plate. I question why the baseplate's installed.

All of Tym's 350s (including the other 2 that are accounted for) can be seen here:
https://tymguitars.com.au/blogs/blog/15 ... srite-350s

Blank Section - 1:

Blank - Stereo, Brown Burst. Has 2 Mosrite Single Coils, and the Tailpiece is much farther away from the bridge. Showed up on Facebook, 29 Jan 2023. Pics saved. https://www.facebook.com/groups/mosrite ... 281284030/

May not have a # anymore - 2:

A0xxx: Stereo, Natural. Pics saved. Has knobs that were also on A0049. Has a Bigsby and a Tune O Matic, and was refretted twice (so it may no longer have a number.) Pups were re-wound, too. Found on Facebook, posted by William R. Crabtree.
A0xxx: Stereo, Natural (or slightly more brown.) May have lost its # in a Refret (judging from photos) though I'm not certain if it did lose the #. Formerly owned by Will Speer (Will S on the forum) and was played in a 2007/2008 video from Rockongoodpeople. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1942&p=19381#p19381

=======================
Total Instruments Listed:
=======================

125 Instruments Total (or fewer, due to the unknown & speculation sections.)

300 Models - Total of 16 (11 known.)

7 Known # 300 Basses (2 early ones, 5 later ones.)
3 Speculated # 300 Basses,

4 Known # 300 Guitars,
1 Speculated # 300 Guitar.

350 Models - Total of 109 (67 Known #s.)

23 Basses:

12 Known # 350 Basses,
1 No Number 350 Bass (May not have been stamped, or may have been lost in a re-fret.)
2 Speculated # 350 Basses,
9 Unknown 350 Basses.

86 Guitars:

58 Known # Guitars (15 known to be Mono. 1 is either a duplicate, or an inaccurately read number. The one in the Duplicate section is A0111)
1 Guitar that's a Partsrite,
3 350 Guitars with a partial #,
8 350 Guitars with speculated #s (one Mono,)
13 Unknown 350 Guitars
1 Blank Stereo Guitar,
2 That may not have numbers anymore.

======================
Finishes Accounted For:
======================

Black - Shows up late in the model run. (Earliest known guitar is A0237, though I wonder if it's really 337, and the earliest bass is AB117 - which happens to currently be the highest # for a Stereo 350 Bass.)
Blue - 4 accounted for. Some may not be an original finish, but A0274 is the best bet for one that is original.
Brown.
Brown Burst.
Brown, Translucent or Butterscotch, Translucent (A0266.)
Burgundy. (A0111, color according to owner. I've seen no photos of it.)
Natural - This is the most common finish seen. About the first 60 seem to be Natural, though without each one individually accounted for, I can't say that for certain.
Red.
Red, Translucent. (A0065, A0072.)
Red Burst.
Sunburst - 1 accounted for, though it may not be an original finish. The guitar is a speculated (but highly likely to be) A0304.
Yellow - 2 accounted for. (1 Mystery Bass [Later in the run,] and Guitar A0345 [Also late in the run.]) Perhaps these are the only 2, and they were ordered at the same time?
White - 1 mystery # Bass accounted for.

Also, Guitar A0350 was once described as "Forest Green," in the ad where forum member "GTSP" bought it. I'm not sure if it's really a Dark Green, or a Black finish.

I feel confident that the Black, Brown, Brown Burst, Red, and Red Burst instruments are all original finishes. The Yellow ones might also be original, since I've found two of them that look nearly the same.

I'm not so sure about the originality of the Blue ones, the Green/Black one, or the White one. If I had better pics of the Unknown # Blue one, I could more easily tell.

======================
Other Cosmetic Details:
======================

350 Bass AB0002 has White Pickup Covers that aged to a creamy color, like the pickguard. Whether or not this is original is hard to say, but it's an interesting difference. https://imperialvintageguitars.com/prod ... tar-w-ohsc

[2023:]

16 August:

A0010 (Natural) Added. Found on Reverb, and it has been for sale since June.
https://reverb.com/item/70582561-mosrit ... 350-1970-s

19 August:

A0072 (Stereo, Translucent Red, Moseley Vibrato Tailpiece, With Case) Added. Found on Facebook, posted on 23 Feb 2023.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/themark ... 1910473385

13 September:

A0x51 (Stereo, Natural, Unknown 2nd digit) added. It showed up on Facebook Marketplace in New York. This one doesn't have M Knobs.

12 December:

Small update - now that I'm an Admin here, I can delete my replies. I've started deleting my excessive replies to this particualr 300 and 350 Serial No. #s topic, so make it easier to navigate replies here. At its peak, there were 118 replies here - and most of them were mine. I've deleted some now, but I have a lot to go, yet. I am saving each one in a text file, though. All of the data's saved.

14 December:

The guitar I previously thought was A0049 is more likely to be A0048, and at the same time, I've added the real A0049 (Natural) to the list.

?? December:

Deleted replies of my own, down from approx. 118 to 108.

26 December:

Deleted replies of my own, from approx. 108 to 73.

27 December:

Deleted replies of my own, from 73 to 61 replies to this thread.

28 December:

Update 1: Deleted more replies. Went from 61 to 25 replies to the thread. I still need to trim the last few excessive ones.

Update 2: Finally got the thread down to size, at 15 replies instead of 118.

Update 3: Added instruments:

KB0016 - Natural - Early 300 Bass Neck Pickup construction.
https://reverb.com/item/67712418-1974-m ... o-300-bass
KB0024 - Brown - Later 300 Bridge Pickup construction.
https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-of ... t-27721921

Also realized that the "KB0012" that I had in the speculated section was actually KB0022, which was already on the list, so the false listing has been removed.

=======
[2024:]
=======

August 26:

A0274 (Black) Added.

Also removed extra numbers from the list above each individual instrument section. I often forgot to update them, and they seem redundant.

I've been off the forum for a while and stumbled into this thread. Didn't see my guitar listed: black, stereo, A0331.

Thanks for starting the chronicle.
