Hello Everybody,
I am a casual reader in this forum for about a decade. In 2012 I was mosmarized
and started saving $ 40 a month for THE guitar. Now i had saved enough for my first mosrite guitar. But before it begins...
...I would like to thank you all for sharing your thoughts, insights and experience here,
that have helped me on my long journey to a Mosrite guitar.
Special thanks to 101Volts for the M3 of California Pickup comparison, maxkat for the hangten site and
the chance to touch a real Mosrite and Bob Shade, for his all-time competent and friendly answers for newbies like me.
I started playing guitar in late 1999 because of Kurt Cobain. For all of you, who stop reading now - the story is getting better .
Soon after, I met a guy who teached me how to play guitar, introduced me to The Velvet Underground, Link Wray and Ennio Morricone. I was 17 years old and had no idea that there was moore than old russian CCR and Zeppelin vinyl records in my mums cabinet. In 2003, the guy, another guy and me started a band together, heavely influenced by The VU, The Doors and 60s garage instrumental.
We didn't came from L.A., nor New York. We lived in germany, not Munich, not Berlin, but in a small town in the very east of Saxony. Like Aberdeen.
My main guitar for the band was a Danelectro U2 - a 1999 reissue - and a small Danelectro 15 Watt Combo amp with 8" speaker, that a bought from blood donations money at the only local music shop within 80 miles togehter with the guitar for $ 299.-
In 2007, after the bands 3rd album, I got a 1973 Fender Twin Reverb Silverface (I call him 'the uncle'). We started recording the 4th release in 2009, but things just s l o w e d . . -
Crazy for making music with other people, we started a fun project with others in 2012 - a Nirvana Coverband. My obsession for period correct specifications and equipment of Kurt Cobains gear took me to Mosrite. Originally I saved for a Mark I. But if I had choosen the Mark I, than I had to buy a Hallmark Gospel. But now, I have "both" closest in between surf and KC. Also I still feel myself moore like a student than a professionel. - so the Mark V is better for me. Also, I should have saved at least 3 more years to be able to afford a Mark I.
I really like the fever when reading about Tyms first Mosrite. Thats how I feel:
'1966 Mosrite Mk V. My first real Mosrite.'

I´ve always listened and liked Surf music the most of all styles.
Bands like The Lively Ones, Eddie and the Showman, The Atomic Mosquitos, The Surf Coasters, Bang! Mustang! are my greatest joy.
My favorite band are The Los Twang Marvels
