I think this might be considered Music Related. So. I'll move it there from this Off Topic section. ;)

Well, it took the Shadows 17 years to finally decide to cover the Ventures' hit too but they did make a good job of it by NOT duplicating it note by note.
Interestingly, the Ventures also covered a handful of the Shadows' hits; Peace Pipe, Wonderful Land, The Savage...

This also here Shadows fan thanks you kindly for posting the vid Dennis! ;)

Paul,
Since this is the 'Music Related Link' and it is about the British, here's another one the Shadows did
in which I thought they did an excellent job on, a song written by Mike Oldfield called "Moonlight Shadow."

make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Lovely, thank you for sharing.

How much better The Shadows would have sounded, with Mk Is jacked into Twin Reverbs!

LOL, that's a good one Shake Spear, a similar thought had crossed my mind too in the past!

Interestingly I read somewhere that the Shadows actually did use Fender amps at some point because their Vox AC30's kept on packing up one by one after another! (the heat played a role I think).
(It may well have been during their South African tour in 1961. I was there [age 16] but cannot remember which amps were on the stage in that Colosseum theatre)

BTW this was of course prior to the time Mosrite was yet having to be endorsed by The Ventures to hit the big time which was around 1962/1963. I'm pretty sure our Brits lads must've known about Mosrite by then.

Veenture, do you have a copy(mp3) of the Ventures covering Wonderful Land?

You think is too late to get the Shads to play Mosrites on their final Cliff/Shads tour and to get the Ventures to play Burns guitars with AC30s on their 50th tour?
