Just got this, and feel like I got a good deal on it. It is a fantastic playing and sounding guitar. Based on the fret wear it looks like it was rarely used. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the scoop is with sunburst Maphis 1s. Also, the pot codes date to '66, but it has a 3 bolt neck, and oddly no "Joe Maphis Model" on the headstock. The serial # indicates that it is a Maphis however...
Anyway, it's still a great guitar.

Wow, really impressive. I'm really dig the Maphis and Combo guitars and love the finish on that one.
FWIW, my late '66 Mark V has the same finish and a three-bolt neck, too.

Re: My New to me Maphis Sunburst
These pics are actually from the seller, before I bought the guitar. After a thorough cleaning and check out, the guitar really shines. Maybe I'll post some "after" pics too.
A guy that's in the studio today initially thought the guitar was a reissue or something, because the finish is so smooth and clear!
The best part, by far is the sound and playability.
I'm glad I went out on a limb and got it.
